Equilibrium Calculations for G-6-P Hydrolysis

The document discusses the hydrolysis of glucose-6-phosphate (G-6-P) to glucose (G) and inorganic phosphate (Pi), calculating the equilibrium constant (Keq') based on initial and equilibrium concentrations. It also examines the equilibrium concentrations of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate (F-1,6-BP), dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP), and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate (G-3-P) when incubated with aldolase. Additionally, it predicts the hydronium ion concentration for a 0.10 M benzoic acid solution using its acid dissociation constant (Ka).

Glucose-6-phosphate (G-6-P) is hydrolyzed enzymatically (pH = 7, 25°C) to give glucose

(G) and inorganic phosphate (Pi). The concentration of G-6-P was 0.1 M to start. At
equilibrium, only 0.05% of the original G-6-P remained. Calculate the Keq' for the hydrolysis

Carboxylic acids are organic molecules that undergo a limited dissociation to make
carboxylate salts and hydronium ions.

Please predict the hydronium ion concentration for a 0.10 M benzoic acid solution. The acid
dissociation constant for benzoic acid (Ka) is 6.46 x 10-5 at 25oC.
