Small Network Design and Configuration Guide

The document outlines the process of designing and building a small network using 2 Cisco switches and 1 router. It details the connections made between devices, the configuration steps for the router and switches, and the assignment of IP addresses. Finally, it describes testing connectivity using ping and tracert commands.

Lab - Design and Build a Small Network

Design Topology:
Firstly, in the question we are told to install 2 cisco switches and 1 router, so we
make a topology accordingly. We connect the PC with the straight through console
cable in the FastEthernet port. We connect Fx
Also from the Router a Gigabit-Ethernet 0/0/0 and 0/0/1 ports to Switch 1 and Switch
2 Gigabit ports respectively.
Then we connect the console cable from the router to RS-232 port of the PC and
open our terminal to configure. Once done with the router configuration we then
connect the console cable from the switch to RS-232 port of PC to configure our
switch.
Then in terminal for PC we handle our configuration by interface vlan 1 command
for switch and interface g0/0/0 and g0/0/1 for router. We also manually assign ip
addresses in the same subnet and the ip address for the router becomes the default
gateway. We can also give ipv6 addresses which I have also assigned. Then after all
encryption we copy running config in startup config. Then in PC we go to IP
configuration and assign the ip addresses accordingly to complete configuration.
We then check connectivity using ping command and verify our paths by tracert
command.
