ABSTRACT
Nowadays, it has become a tedious task to control the traffic caused by the unplanned parking
system. Many manual parking systems are used these days, which always don't provide
accuracy. There is a huge wastage of fuel and time in the manual parking system.

A new venture has been endorsed to thrive a userfriendly smart parking system with minimal
human interference. The proposed system scans for the vehicle type and vehicle number when
a new vehicle enters with the help of a transfer-learning based model and a CNN model. A
suitable parking spot is searched based on the vehicle type and assigned to the vehicle.

This paper is aimed to introduce a smart parking lot management system using multiple
cameras and artificial intelligence technique. When a vehicle enters a parking lot, it recognizes
the vehicle number using embedded camera, tracks which parking space the vehicle is parked
in, and updates parking space information. In addition, using a surveillance camera images, it
has been also implemented to detect collision accidents that may occur while the vehicle is
moving in the parking lot. By using the AI parking system implemented in this paper, it is
possible to effectively manage the vehicle's parking location, free space information and
possible accidents. Using a cloud system, implemented system can provide drivers an
integrated parking lot information over large areas.

CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION
Nowadays, one of the most common problems is the manual parking system. Vehicles continue
to outdo existing parking spaces, thus clogging roads. Survey results found that during busy
working days, it takes a long time to search for free parking space and it leads to traffic
congestion, wastage of time and money, car emissions, and pollution. Users can benefit from
this by putting in place an intelligent parking system that uses AI and image processing, which
is an effective and efficient parking system.

The project entitled smart parking system is to manage all the parking facilities to an user. The
recent growth in economy and due to the availability of low price cars in the market, an every
average middle-class individual can afford a car, which is good thing, however the
consequences of heavy traffic jams, pollution, less availability of roads and spot to drive the
motor car. One of the important concerns, which is to be taken in accounting, is the problem of
parking those vehicles .Though, if there is space for parking the vehicle but so much time is
squandered in finding that exact parking slot resulting in more fuel intake and not also
environment friendly. It will be a great deal if in some way we find out that the parking itself
can provide the precise vacant position of a parking slot then it'll be helpful not limited to the
drivers also for the environment

The recent growth in economy and due to the availability of low price cars in the market, an
every average middle-class individual can afford a car, which is good thing, however the
consequences of heavy traffic jams, pollution, less availability of roads and spot to drive the
motor car. One of the important concerns, which is to be taken in accounting, is that problem
of parking those vehicles. A parking solution can greatly benefit both the user and the lot owner.

We offer a way to guide drivers to parking their cars quickly, with products that can be too
easy to be combined and integrated for a simple and efficient solution. Streamlining parking,
both at Entrance-Exit and through the car park, make the parking much more efficient, speeding
up the process and potentially freeing up spaces more quickly for further occupation. This
means taking the maximum profits on spaces. It also provides a level of security, giving peace
of mind to drivers and operators alike.

• Real-time Availability: AI-powered sensors and cameras detect available parking
spots in real-time and update drivers via mobile apps or digital signs.
• Automated Payment Systems: AI facilitates cashless payment systems, allowing
for seamless entry and exit processes.
• Dynamic Pricing: AI algorithms can adjust parking fees based on demand, time of
day, and other factors to optimize space utilization and maximize revenue.

A computer system manages the whole process, and different installed digitized panels and
lights help the driver in parking his/her car. The proposed system can be applied to any parking
lot, such as apartments, universities, and malls. Whenever the driver enters the parking lot, the
cameras will start their work by capturing the number plate of the arriving car using ultrasonic
sensors. The captured image is then processed and identified by the recognition system. As the
cameras get the number, the system starts to calculate the time and price. Each parking lot is
considered a network node, and each customer’s app is considered a feedback terminal. "Just
by connecting every device, drivers will be notified about every bit of information they require
to know".

Innovative Idea

A deep learning technique using AI is proposed for object detection and identifies the vehicles.
A few systems use some speech recognition techniques, natural language processing (NLP),
and pedestrian detection techniques. A parking management system is proposed for detecting
such cars. It uses the methodology of image acquisition and image capturing techniques for
recognizing license plates and their associated cars. Rich feature hierarchies for accurate object
detection and semantic segmentation are proposed using Deep Learning (DL). Various deep
learning methodologies are used for image or object detection and for preparing proper
semantics. Real-time smart parking systems integrated with distributed systems for smart
cities. In this method, various image processing techniques and a few IoT applications are
deployed in such a way that each and every detail related to their respective vehicles will be
available at any time.

➢ Here are some innovative ideas for using AI technology in the car parking industry:

1. Smart Parking Systems

AI can be used to develop smart parking systems that can guide drivers to available parking
spots in real-time. These systems can use sensors and cameras to detect free spots and AI
algorithms to direct drivers to the nearest available space, reducing the time spent searching
for parking.

2. Automated Valet Parking

AI-driven automated valet parking systems can allow cars to park themselves. Upon arrival,
the driver can leave the car at a designated drop-off area, and the car will autonomously find a
parking spot and park itself. When the driver is ready to leave, the car can return to the pick-
up area.

3. Dynamic Pricing Models

AI can be used to implement dynamic pricing models for parking spaces. By analyzing factors
such as demand, location, and time of day, AI algorithms can adjust parking fees in real-time,
maximizing revenue for parking lot operators and ensuring efficient use of parking spaces.

4. Predictive Analytics for Parking Demand

analyze video feeds to detect suspicious activities, recognize license plates, and alert authorities
in case of potential security threats.

6. Personalized Parking Services

AI can be used to offer personalized parking services to users. For example, a mobile app
powered by AI can remember a user's parking preferences, suggest preferred parking spots
based on their previous behavior, and offer tailored promotions and discounts.

7. Integration with Autonomous Vehicles

Background of the Study

The authors proposes an efficient approach to identify available parking spots and regulating
the flow of vehicles in complex multi-storied parking infrastructures by means of IR sensors
that detect vehicles and provide interpretation. This system can be dejected into metropolitan
malls, hybrid parking structures. Automatic car slot identification system works by displaying
vacant parking slot numbers on monitor screens located at the entry gate before drivers even
enter the lot. By implementing this system, drivers can save time and avoid the frustrating and
inefficient process of searching for open spaces. Only the credible and legible users can access
the parking lots with the usage of RFID tags subject to the availability of the parking
dimensions. A significant touch of an efficient smart parking management system [3] is

10 | P a g e
proposed and implemented by mainly using techniques such as image processing , hardware
and electrical to monitor, control, process, and display the required parking space information
in real-time to the mobility seekers.

The system starts to calculate the time and price. Each parking lot is considered a network
node, and each customer’s app is considered a feedback terminal. "Just by connecting every
device, drivers will be notified about every bit of information they require to know"]. IoT
sensors are used for the detection of vehicles that are inside or outside of the parking area.
Identifying such vehicles and using this technique, the vehicles can be organized and the
records will also be maintained in the database and can be used for future information retrieval.
The drivers can book their slot within seconds and they can organize the parking lot in a
systematic manner. The security control will be almost automated using IoT devices such as
sensors and appliances, so there will be less requirement for individual attention to control the
parking lot manually by reducing time and fuel. The drivers will be connected to an app which
will be used to get any information related to their respective vehicle.

[Link] METHODOLOGY

In many parking lots, the conventional method of parking vehicles involves a manual process.
When you enter, the staff provides a parking ticket, and you can locate a free space to park
your vehicle without any specific instructions. Staff members are present to assist in navigation.
When you leave, a staff member collects the depicted fee, totted on the basis of incoming and
outgoing times. Although this system has some downsides, it remains a commonly used
approach in parking lots. Even now, many feel this method is comfortable as there are not many
alternative methods which have been implemented on a large scale. An alternate solution to
this issue involves the utilization of sensors to detect the presence of vehicles at that location.
This strategy entails the installation of sensors in parking spots, which will identify unoccupied
spaces within the parking lot. The information gathered by these sensors can be utilized by
drivers to locate vacant parking spots. While this method has been implemented in some
parking areas, the primary issue with this strategy is its high cost. The expense of installing
sensors ranges from $300 to $500 for each parking spot. Despite the high cost, some
organizations are prepared to finance the utilization of sensor-based parking systems.

[Link] SOLUTION

A cutting-edge smart vehicle, primarily car parking system was manifested that has
preparedness to automatically allocate an appropriate parking spot for any vehicle that enters
the parking facility. With the aid of a user-friendly website and a lightweight number plate and
vehicle type detection system, this Smart Parking System is designed to help parking lot owners
manage their parking spaces more efficiently. The website also facilitates easy communication
between customers and parking lot owners. From assigning a survival of the fittest parking spot
for a vehicle at the immigrant point to calculating the total parking charge at the emigrant point,
this smart parking system handles it all. The automated smart parking system operates without
much human interaction, and it uses advanced technology to recognize the number plate and
the vehicle type (SUV, Sedan, or Compact) when a car enters. The system then utilizes an
effective search algorithm to round about a congruous parking extent upon the specific details
of the car. Depending on the vehicle type, the parking space allotted may be compact, medium,
or large. In addition, if it is the user's first visit, a user ID is generated, and the user is provided

16 | P a g e
with login credentials. After entering the parking lot, each parking spot will be monitored
individually using a number plate recognition system.

C. SMART PARKING WEBSITE

vehicle’s type which would be passed on to the search algorithm to find a suitable parking spot.
This outputs the corresponding vehicle’s type as output which is passed on to the search
algorithm to find a suitable parking spot that can accommodate the vehicle. Coco dataset has
been used to train the Yolov3 model which is used for vehicle detection. The MS COCO dataset
is for distinguishing wide-scale objects, segmentation, key-point detection, and captioning the
accumulated dataset. The dataset contains about 328,000 images of the objects that we come
across in our day-to-day life, each dotnotted with categories of concluding 80 objects and 5
captions in numbers.

CHAPTER 3

Technology
The parking system proposed is based on sensors and cloud server integration. In the pre phase,
the ultrasonic sensor is used to detect vacant or occupied car parking space and showcases it
on the screen using cloud technology. In the post phase, the improper parking of the car is
detected by IR sensors. It warns the transport officer with a buzzer if the car is not parked in
the parking boundary. The most reliable and efficient way to automate the management of the
parking system that allocates exhaustive parking space by incorporating the internet of things.
In the work the proposed ideology utilizes the recent advancements in the Information and
Communication Technologies and consists of four layers: Application, Middleware,
Networking, and sensor layer. It provides environmentally friendly, reduces exhaust emissions
during parking, and is a mechanized system pre-programmed without human influence.
