Week 1 Overview
Introduction
This week we will be discussing construction estimation generally mostly an overview of the discipline. This week's work will
provide a snapshot of the discipline which will be addressing more details as the semester progresses. We will talk about the
definition of estimation terms, and project delivery methods as they relate to estimating. It is recommended you read chapters
1 and 2 of David Pratt's Construction Estimating text to get a thorough understanding of this week's subject. We will also be
introducing your first assignment.

1. Navigate the different components of this online course.
2. Locate the learning outcomes and essential employability skills for this course.
3. Identify and access the course textbook.
4. Review the evaluation scheme for your final grade.
5. Identify course structure, nature of assignments, tests, quizzes and study references.
6. Read academic integrity policy, including consequences for academic honesty including plagiarism.
Estimating
1. Identify quantity surveying applications.
Bid Application Simulation
1. Demonstrate how to read drawings and contract specifications.
2. Review samples of bid complete bid applications.
