Inclusive Dates: March 31; April 01-02 and April 07-09, 2025 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)
Time: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Course Description:
This clinical exposure focuses on providing Level IV nursing students with a hands-on learning experience within the Surgical Ward at
Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center (GCGMMC). It aims to refine their practical nursing skills in perioperative care, including post-
operative care, wound management, pain control, and monitoring for complications to enhance their ability have clinical judgement and promote
effective collaboration with the healthcare team. Guided by experienced clinical instructors, this will enhance their competencies while applying the
nursing process in delivering safe and effective care to surgical patients.
Terminal Competencies:
Given the 6 days of exposure in the Surgical Ward at GCGMMC, the Level IV nursing students are expected to:
Perform essential nursing procedures for post-surgical and pre- operative patients, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Conduct thorough assessments and monitor patients’ conditions, identifying early signs of complications.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Apply critical thinking in implementing appropriate nursing interventions.
Provide safe and compassionate care tailored to surgical patients’ needs.
