Teacher’s activity Student’s activity
1. Prayer:
In the name of the Father, the Son and the
Holy Spirit, Amen.
Dear God, thank you for everything. Guide us
always help us in our daily needs. Forgive us in
our sins, in Jesus name, Amen.
In the name of the Father, the Son and the
Holy Spirit, Amen.
2. Greetings:
Good afternoon class.
Good afternoon Ma’am.
How are you this morning?
We’re great!
3. Checking of attendance:
You may now take your seats.
Thank you, ma’am.
Who’s absent this afternoon?
None, ma’am.
Very good! Let’s give a hand to everybody for having a
perfect attendance.
4. Energizer:
Before we will proceed in our lesson, let’s have first an
energizer. Just sing after me.
Whole numbers dance with fractions light,
Multiply the tops, it feels so right!
Fractions meet, a friendly pair,
Numerators multiply, with utmost care.
Denominators join the fun below,
A brand new fraction starts to grow!
A. Preparatory Activities:
1. Drill
Good morning children, before we will start our lesson,
let’s have a drill.
X 4 8 6 3 7 2 9 0 1
6
1. 6X4 = 24 6. 6X2 = 12
2. 6X8 = 48 7. 6X9 = 54
3. 6X6 = 36 8. 6X0 = 0
4. 6X3 = 18 9. 6X1 = 6
5. 6X7 = 42
Very good, Class!
A Review
Now, let’s have a review.
Direction: Write each fraction in its lowest terms.
a. 2/ 10 b. 6/15 c. 8/32 d. 5/15 e. 8/12
a. 2/5 b. 2/5 c. 1/4 d. 1/3 e. 2/3
Good job!
B. Motivation:
Okay class, I have something to show you. What is this
class?
A cake, Ma’am.
Very Good! A cake.
Have you already eaten a cake? Yes, Ma’am!
Now, you cut the cake into 8 slices. And you give 1 slice
to your friend. Now what part of the whole cake did you
give a way?
Very Good! 1/8 Ma’am
Now, what do call to the number above which is 1?
How about the number 8?
Numerator Ma’am!
Good job, everyone!
Denominator Ma’am!
C. Activity:
Now, Let’s have a group activity. I will divide you into 4
groups. After finishing your activity, post it on the board
and ask 1 representative in your group to explain it.
Group 1 – Draw a rectangle, shade 1/6.
1 1
Group 2 – Solve x
2 3 Group 1
Group 3 – Draw a square, shade 1/4
Group 4 – Solve 5/7 x 1/2
Group 2
1 1 1
x
2 3 = 6
Group 3
Group 4
5 1 5
x
6 2
= 12
D. Analysis
In the activity of group 2 and 4, what do you do with the We multiply the numerator to another
numerators to get the numerator of the product? numerator number.
How about the denominator of the product? We also multiply the denominator number by
another denominator.
By answering your activities, do you have any idea what
is our lesson for today?
Multiplication of Fractions, Ma’am!
Very Good! Our lesson for today is all about
Multiplication of fractions.
In solving this, there is another method to use. It
involves cancellation to simplify multiplication of
fractions. In cancellation, one divides a numerator and a
denominator by a common factor. When all common
factors have been used, multiply to find the product.
The product should be in its lowest term.
Examples:
5 14 10 3 4 6
1. 7 x 3 = 3 2. 8 x 5 = 20
7 9 3 5 3 3
3. 12 x 14 = 8 4. 7 x 10 = 14
8 5 4
5. 15 x 12 = 18
Yes, Ma’am.
Did you already understand it class?
E. Abstraction
How do we multiply a fraction by another fraction?
To multiply fractions, multiply the numerator by the
numerator and the denominator by the denominator.
Express the products in its lowest term.
F. Application
Direction: Read and solve on your paper. Express the
answer in its lowest term.

1. A butter cake recipe needs cup milk. How many
4
1
cups of milk are needed to make .

cut for pockets. How much material did the sewer use
for pockets?
V. Evaluation
Direction: Find the product. Express it in simplest
form.
2 15 6 3 2 6 1 5
1. 3 x 16 2. 12 x 42 3. 3 x 8 4. 5 x 8
1 5 2 6 12
5. 5 x 15 6. 3 x 8 x 14
VI. Assignment:
Direction: Find the product. Shade the correct part of
each region to show your answer.
1 1
a. 3 x 2
Thank You and Goodbye, Ma’am!
2 1
b. 3 x 2
That’s all for today, class. Goodbye!
