CALCAREA SILICATA

INTRODUCTION

• Common name: Silicate of lime.

• Chemical properties: Ca2SiO4.

• Preparation: Trituration.

Miasm: Psora and Syphilis.

Constitution: Hydrogenoid. Very sensitive to cold. Weak, emaciated,


cold and chilly. Atrophy in children. Face pale, earthy color. Lips
bluish, cracked.

Temperament: Irritable.

Diathesis: Scrofulous.

Thermals: Chilly .

Clinical indications

 Anal fistula  Atrophy  Catarrh, cold, chilliness  Polyps,


epithelioma, corneal exudations.  Ulcers.  Diabetes  Dropsy 
Emaciation  Goiter  Uterus, prolapsed, weak.

Guiding symptoms

• Deep, long acting remedy for complaints which come on slowly and
reach their final development after long periods.

• Marked emaciation, especially in children who inherited TB

• Usher used this in cases of atrophy of children. Succeeded in cases


where silicea failed in corneal disorders. Causes absorption of
corneal exudations.
• Lack of vital heat. Catching colds constantly, extreme sensitiveness
to cold and draughts.

• Abscess, catarrhal discharges, ulcers marked with thick,


greenishyellowish pus.

• Aversion to open air.

• Abdomen: slow digestion. Slow action of bowels and liver.

• Breasts: Useful in restraining malignant ulceration in breast.

• Eyes: corneal exudation. Eyelids glutinated with pus. Paralysis of


optic nerve. Photophobia

. • Temperature: cold all the time, lack of vital heat.

• Back: sensation of coldness of back.

• Head: coldness of head, especially occiput and vertex.

• Skin: cold, blue, sensitive. Cracked.

MIND

• J.T. Kent:  Absent-minded and excitable.  Symptoms worse after


anger, when alone. Anxiety in evening in bed and night about her
health. Especially during menses.  Wants man things, soon tires of
them. Desires the unobtainable, nothing suits and is very critical. 
Inability to concentrate. Confusion of mind. Lost all confidence in
him.  Consolation irritates him.  Timid, bashful, cowardly.  Sits
long in one place, looks in to space and does not answer when
spoken to.  Passive delirium, talks and acts like insane. Talks to
imaginary people. Who have long been dead.  Talks nonsense,
foolish things, talks coherently, but about impossible things. Answers
questions correctly, but about impossible things.  Horrible visions,
sees disagreeable persons when half awake.  Seems to converse
with her dead friends, dead son, dead husband, wants to get dinner
for them. Imagines her husband would starve if she does not feed
him.  Discontent, despair, thinks she proving an incurable disease.
Mental depression without cause.  Complaints from fear. 
Hysterical manifestations  Utterly ambitious.  Stupefaction and
disposition to suicide. Weary of life.  Lamenting and wailing.

LSMC MODEL

• Location: Skin, mucous membrane, bones, glands. Muscle, tendons,


joints. Lungs. Eyes , limbs, breasts.

• Sensation: Pains are boring, burning, cutting, jerking, pressing,


bruised, stitching and tearing type. Burning in the internal parts.
Sensitive all over, sensitive to pain.

• Modallities: Aggravation: evening, night, walks, motion, before,


during, after menses. Cold, cold air. Standing. From being
overheated. After anger, when alone. Amelioration: lying down.
