Micro Project Report on Computer
Network (CC)
Objective
To design and simulate a small office network using basic networking concepts and tools to
understand how devices communicate in a LAN.
Tools/Software Required
- Cisco Packet Tracer (or any network simulator)
- Basic networking components (router, switch, PCs, cables)
- Internet access (optional)
Project Scope
To connect 5 computers, 1 printer, and 1 internet connection in a single office network
using appropriate devices and configurations.
Project Tasks
1. Requirement Analysis
- Number of devices: 5 PCs, 1 printer, 1 router, 1 switch
- Network type: LAN
- IP Addressing scheme: Use private IPs (e.g., 192.168.1.x)
2. Network Design
- Draw a logical network topology
- Connect all devices using appropriate cables
3. Configuration
- Assign IP addresses to each PC and the printer
- Configure router for internet simulation (optional)
- Test connectivity using ping command
4. Testing & Troubleshooting
- Ensure all devices can communicate
- Fix common errors (e.g., wrong IP, cable issues)
Expected Outcome
A fully working small office LAN where all systems can share files and access the printer.
Basic internet simulation included if configured.
Conclusion
This project helps understand real-world network setup and basic troubleshooting skills,
essential for any IT technician or network administrator.
