In SAP S/4HANA the app “Migrate Your Data” - Migration Cockpit is the successor of the Migration
Cockpit-LTMC. The Migration Cockpit (transaction LTMC) is deprecated from 2021 version onwards and
can no longer be used to migrate data to SAP S/4HANA.

To transfer data using the SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit, below roles are required to be
assigned to user ID

DATA MIGRATION IN 2 STEPS
Data Migration to be carried out in 2 steps

Project Creation
You can migrate data directly from certain SAP source systems, or you can migrate data using staging
tables.

Choose create and then migrate data using staging tables. The system displays the new migration project
screen.
Provide the name of the project and choose local SAP S/4 HANA D/B schema.
Proceed to step 2.

Select the local package as we are not transporting our project to another system.
Proceed to step 3.

Under Migration Objects, the system displays a list of available migration objects. Select the migration objects that are relevant for
your project.
Ex: We have selected “Equipment master data” to do migration

Now you preview & add the required predecessor objects along with your migration object.

Review your settings and choose Create Project to create your project.

Now list of migration projects can be seen along with our project and also we can edit, copy, delete and finish the
existing projects.

Data Migration
When we navigate into our migration project, Migration Project screen is displayed. On the Migration Project screen, you trigger
the steps that are required to transfer the data for each migration object to the target SAP S/4HANA system.
For Migration Object, download the relevant template. There are two options.
➢ Download with XML file.
➢ Download with CVS file.

I have downloaded the templates in XML format & provided the required details/fields for loading object(Equipment Master) to
SAP system.

For each migration object the steps to be followed are:
1. Download Template
2. Upload Template
3. Prepare
4. Mapping Tasks
5. Simulate
6. Migrate

First create the folder for CSV files in the migration cockpit, then you upload all the relevant object files, once uploaded the screen
shown below confirms that files are mapped against the migration objects.

After upload, the folder looks as shown below.

Now it’s time to validate the data in the loaded file. If the data in the file is no as per the format, system will issue a message as
shown below.

The error was due to date format which was incorrect, now correct the date format in the file & reupload the file.

Next step is to transfer the data to staging tables
Now data successfully transferred to staging
tables as shown below.

Next step is to prepare the staging tables so that they can be used to transfer data to SAP S/4HANA. This process must be
repeated whenever new data is added to the staging tables.

We can view the status as shown below, “Prepare Staging Tables: Started” & also we can monitor the status using “Monitoring”
button.

Now, we need to process any open mapping tasks for the migration object before you can proceed with the simulation or
the migration.

On the Mapping Tasks screen, we can view the open mapping tasks (open mapping tasks have the status “To be
Confirmed”) as well as any confirmed mapping tasks. You can also view whether any errors exist for mapping tasks. The
system displays the mapping tasks in a list.
Confirm each mapping task individually or all mapping tasks at once.

Once after confirmation the status gets updated to “Confirmed”.

Next step is to simulate the data before migration of actual data to S4 system.

Simulation data completed & it’s status can be viewed under monitoring.

Now it’s time to migrate the data.
We can see the status of each & every step.
