and imperialism in Southeast Asia.
To annotate teaching strategies for lessons on Western colonization and
imperialism in Southeast Asia, focus on incorporating student-centered
approaches, critical thinking, and historical context. This includes using primary
source materials, encouraging discussions, and analyzing the lasting impacts of
colonization on Southeast Asian cultures and economies.
Example Annotations:
1. 1. Strategy:
Primary Source Analysis - Students analyze excerpts from colonial documents (e.g.,
treaties, administrative reports, letters) to understand the perspectives and
motivations of both colonizers and the colonized.
Annotation: This approach provides students with a direct understanding of
the historical context and allows them to interpret events from different
viewpoints, promoting critical thinking about the dynamics of power and
resistance.
2. 2. Strategy:
Debate/Discussion on Colonial Policies - Students engage in debates or discussions
about specific colonial policies (e.g., economic exploitation, cultural suppression) and
their impact on Southeast Asian societies.
Annotation: This method encourages students to analyze the complexities of
colonial rule and its consequences, fostering critical thinking and debate skills.
3. 3. Strategy:
Compare and Contrast: Students compare and contrast the colonial experiences of
different Southeast Asian countries, focusing on the specific forms of colonization and
resistance in each region.
Annotation: This strategy helps students identify common themes and
patterns while acknowledging the unique historical context of each Southeast
Asian nation.
4. 4. Strategy:
Case Study: A Specific Colonial Event - Students delve into a specific colonial event
(e.g., a major rebellion, a shift in colonial administration) and analyze its causes,
consequences, and lasting impacts.
Annotation: This method allows for a deeper understanding of the
complexities of colonialism, encouraging students to analyze the interplay of
political, economic, and social factors.
5. 5. Strategy:
Student-led research and presentation on Resistance Movements - Students research
and present on various resistance movements (e.g., rebellions, nationalist
movements) against colonial rule, focusing on the different strategies and motivations
of these movements.
Annotation: This method empowers students to explore the agency of the
colonized and the diverse forms of resistance to colonial domination.
6. 6. Strategy:
Analyzing the Legacy of Colonialism Today - Students investigate the enduring
impact of colonialism on Southeast Asian economies, cultures, and political
structures, exploring how these legacies continue to shape contemporary societies.
Annotation: This approach helps students understand the long-term effects of
colonialism and encourages them to analyze the complexities of post-colonial
societies.
General Annotation Tips:
Focus on student engagement:
Highlight strategies that actively involve students in the learning process.
Promote critical thinking:
Emphasize activities that encourage students to analyze information, draw
conclusions, and formulate their own interpretations.
Connect to current events:
Draw connections between the historical context and contemporary issues,
demonstrating the relevance of the material.
Highlight diverse perspectives:
Ensure that the lessons represent the perspectives of both colonizers and the
colonized.
Use a variety of teaching methods:
Mix different teaching methods (e.g., lectures, discussions, primary source analysis,
case studies) to cater to diverse learning styles.
A remedial class in Araling Panlipunan, targeting students with low performance, aims to address
specific learning gaps and improve their understanding of key concepts. This involves identifying
the root causes of poor performance, such as difficulty with specific content or learning styles, and
implementing tailored interventions to support student success.
Sample Annotation:
Problem: Identified students in [Grade Level] (e.g., Grade 7) are showing consistently low
performance in Araling Panlipunan, specifically in [Specific area/concept, e.g., Philippine History,
Economic Systems], as indicated by [Evidence, e.g., low quiz scores, difficulty with specific
assignments].
Intervention: A remedial class will be conducted for identified students, focusing on [Specific
topics/concepts to be covered, e.g., key historical events, economic indicators]. This class will
include [Specific strategies, e.g., simplified explanations, visual aids, group activities, one-on-one
support].
Rationale: This intervention is necessary to address the specific learning needs of these students
and help them gain a deeper understanding of Araling Panlipunan concepts, ultimately improving
their academic performance.
Expected Outcomes: Improved understanding of [Specific topics/concepts], increased confidence in
participating in class discussions, and a demonstrable increase in their performance in [Specific
assessments, e.g., tests, quizzes].
Note: This is a sample annotation, and you may need to adjust it based on your specific context and
the needs of your students. You can also include specific details about the duration, frequency, and
location of the remedial class.
Narrative Report
Deworming is a core program of the Department of Health (DOH) in the Philippines. The
DOH spearheads the National Deworming Month, a nationwide campaign to eliminate intestinal
parasitism, particularly among children.
The DOH's deworming program targets children aged 1 to 19 years old. The National
School-Based Deworming Month (NSDM) focuses on children enrolled in public schools, aiming to
deworm children annually. The DOH also works closely with other government agencies like the
Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to
facilitate the conduct of the National Deworming Month.
February 12, 2025, the Barangay Health Workers of Ubao, Aguinaldo, Ifugao headed by
our ever-supportive Midwife Ms. Alen B. Limante conducted the Deworming Activity in our school.
The event aimed to deworm students and teachers to treat intestinal infections linked to cognitive
impairment and malnutrition. The team were assigned to the different grade level to explain what is
deworming and its importance to us.
After a short discussion on the importance of deworming, the Barangay Health Workers
together with the class adviser or teacher in each class collected all the parental consent from the
students. After checking the parental consent submitted, the BHW with the assistance of the
teacher distributed the medicine/tablet to students with signed parental consent. Students with no
parental consent or their consent were not signed by their parents were not dewormed.
Deworming activity in the school was done successfully because of the collaborative efforts
of teachers and the BHW Team of Ubao, Aguinaldo, Ifugao.

A. Executive Summary
Deworming is a core program of the DOH in the Philippines. The DOH spearheads
the National Deworming Month, a nationwide campaign to eliminate intestinal
parasitism, particularly among children. The DOH’s deworming program targets
children aged 1 to 19 years old. The National School-Based Deworming Month (NSDM)
focuses on children enrolled in public schools, aiming to deworm children annually. The
DOH also works closely with other government agencies like the Department of
Education (DepEd) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to
facilitate the conduct of the National Deworming Month.
The Deworming Activity done in our school aimed to deworm students to treat
intestinal infections linked to cognitive impairment and malnutrition.
In the morning of February 12, 2025, the Barangay Health Workers of Ubao headed
by the ever-supportive Midwife, Ms. Alen B. Limante, conducted the Deworming
Activity in our school. The activity aimed to deworm students to prevent and treat
worm infections, which can cause various health problems, especially in children
because worm infections can lead to malnutrition, anemia, and reduced learning ability
in children.
The team explained to the students the importance of deworming, its benefits to
one’s health.
B. Analysis of Monitoring and Evaluation
The BHW Team were divided into small groups and were assigned to the different
grade level and were assisted by the teachers.
After collecting the parental consent of the students, the BHW Team and the
teachers distribute the tablet to those students with signed parental consent. Students
with no parental consent or their consent were not sign by their parents were not
deworm.
The Deworming Activity was done successfully because of the collaborative efforts of
teachers and the BHW Team of Ubao, Aguinaldo, Ifugao.
C. General comments, issues encountered or recommendations
One issue that I encountered when I talked to grade 7 students was that some
parents don’t want their child to be deworm because they were afraid that something
bad might happen to their sons/daughters. These parents were not informed or have
no knowledge about the benefits or importance of deworming.
