1.1 Introduction
These instructions describe the start-up routine of a MCS220 / Gen2 elevator with TCB and
WWOVF.
Because the TCB is used for different elevator systems (Gien 99) with various door
machines and elevator drives, not all systems can be taken into consideration for this start-
up routine. For the start-up of further subsystems, refer to the corresponding installation
instructions.
Further documents (FCM) are necessary for the start-up of the other components of OTIS
MCS220_MRL / Gen 2

Please check the following important points and cross-check in the "Field Installation
Manual" or wiring diagram, if necessary:
1.2.2 Electrical connections and components
The installation of the power supply cables, the motor cables, the main inputs, the brake
cables, the safety equipment (hoistway and car) and their wiring have to be completed.
The wiring, coming in the controller from all other components, have been plugged or
connected.

Insulation Check:
The connection of HL1 to PE or HL2 to PE has to be removed and the resistance values
have to be checked with a multimeter.
a) from PE to HL1 >1MOhm
b) from PE to HL2 >1MOhm
c) from PE to main terminals L1, L2, L3 in the controller >1MOhm
d) from PE to motor terminals 1U, 1V, 1W in the controller >1MOhm

If the measured voltage values PY1 (1-5) and PY2 (2-11) differ from the values stated in
the table above, check the cable positioning from the main transformer TRF1 to the TCB
(refer to wiring diagram).
The plugs of the Remote Serial Link P101C and P1H on TCB have to be disconnected to
avoid damage to Remote Stations!
Check the voltage supplies of the Remote Serial Link (RSL),
Car link, VRS_Car on Plug P101C 30VDC ± 10%,
Hall link, VRS_HWY on Plug P1H 30VDC ± 10%.
Note:
If after switching on the main switch, the status of the LED indication differs from the status
listed in the table, check the circuits of the corresponding LEDs.
Check:
1SBS - 1st Sheave Brake Switch (only Gien 99)
2SBS - 2nd Sheave Brake Switch (only Gien 99)
MBUS -Manual Brake Upward Switch (only Gien 99)
EEC - Emergency Exit Hatch (if so equipped)
TES - Top of Car Emergency Stop Switch
RTES - Rear Top of Car Emergency Stop Switch (if so equipped)
SOS - Safety Contact on car roof

ONLY CONTINUE WITH THE NEXT STEP IF STEP 1.3 HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY
CONCLUDED!
ATTENTION!
Before comparing or changing the parameters, check if the software number (refer to label
ERPOM) of your elevator corresponds with the software number of the description.
1.5.1 Checking of Installation parameters
With the SVT sequence <M> <1> <3> <1> you will obtain the following installation
parameter menu in which the group to be checked can be selected.
INSTALL MENU > SERVICE – Parameter for SDI and BRE – Adjustment
07 SERVICE (M – 1 – 3 – 1 – 7)
To be able to choose the corresponding group, either the equivalent number can be
chosen (except for 10 = Test-parameters ) or confirmed with <ENTER> if the display shows
the parameter group.
<6> <ENTER>
00 POS REFERENCE
LV-MOD = 002>
To enter a new parameter or to alter the parameter, choose the corresponding parameter
and enter the new number. Confirm the entry with <ENTER>.
For incorrect entries you can delete the respective last digit with <CLEAR>.

With <GO ON> you go to the next landing, with <GO BACK> to previous the landing.
1.6.2 CUT CALL <M> <1> <3> <3> <2>
With the 2nd Allowed Mask (CUT CALL), the locking of calls / commands can be made
dependent to a switch. In order to do so, one of the following I/O numbers is to be
connected with the corresponding address.
If the switch is activated, the calls entered in the 2nd Allowed Mask will be locked.
The column Op is always active.
C - Car calls
U - Up direction calls
D - Down direction calls
E - Express priority calls
1 - These calls are locked if the input of the RS which is assigned with the function e.g.
CCOC is activated (lowactive).
0 - means, that e.g. the CCOC function has no influence on these calls.
The card reader function can only be used for car calls.
Note:
Further information can be found in the chapter entitled:
"Software Installation Parameters", section "Security, Parameter EN-CRO".
0 - means that these calls can only be activated with a magnet card.
1 - means that the chip card reader has no influence on these calls.
With <GO ON> you switch to the next landing, with <GO BACK> to the previous landing.
1.7 Dummy Doors
For groups (duplex / triplex) it is absolutely necessary that doors at corresponding locations
are assigned to the same opening number in each hoistway. If there are doors in the
building which are not served by all cars of the group, the remaining cars have to have
Dummy Doors at this locations:

are doubts about the right connection at the RS, the plugs RS11 P2, RS14 P6, RS18 P1-2
at the car and hoistway RS must also be disconnected.
The connections can be made in the controller now. At the RS- and LT-plugs (car,
hoistway) the right voltage (30VDC) and poling (plug layout L1-Pin1, L2-Pin2, RTN-Pin3,
30VDC-Pin4) can be checked now.
If the values measured with the multimeter are okay, the plugs can be connected with the
RS.
Before the connection to the line terminators are made, the resistors on the LT have to be
checked with a multimeter. Measure resistor 1 between the connections L1 and RTN,
measure resistor 2 between the connections L2 and RTN. The value for each resistor is
75 Ohm ± 2%.
If the value does not comply with the stated value, the LT absolutely must be replaced,
because otherwise during normal operation undefinable malfunctions may occur.
If all values are okay, the connection of the data line to the LTs can be made.
Guarantee, that all RS have been addressed according to the wiring diagram.
All RSs have to function faultlessly and can be checked with the Service Tool in the self-
test mode (refer to following page).
Attention!
To finish the EEPROM-Test successfully, the self test has to be carried out twice. At the
first test "-" is displayed and at the second time "+".
RS address
A - IO-number defined; a - no IO-number defined
R - RS answers, Hardware OK; r - RS does not answer
000 data transmission OK; 001-999 data transmission faulty (parity error)
NOTE:
In TCB -Software, Remote Stations are also shown which do not exist, but are already
defined by the standard I/O-list.
After the test, the SVT shows the first faulty RS. With <GO ON> you can go to higher
addresses.

Before the next step of start up of TCB can be performed, the drive has to
be adjusted to run in inspection mode.
With the "clear" button, you can go back to the beginning of the menu to start the
DCS Test.

The possible runs are equipped with a time limit, for the first two runs 10 minutes each and
for all following runs, 10 minutes total. If the runs are not carried out within the set time, the
display goes back to the start menu. After a "0" has been entered again, further normal
runs are possible.

Note: Notice that the DW signal has been formerly used for mechanically closing doors
(swing doors) and is now always used as a signal for the closed hoistway doors.
For swinging doors, one person has to open the hoistway door in the DCS-Run!
To program a short run, a Reduced Run=RR has to be allowed and the DZ-Signal has to
be used for counting the floors.
Furthermore, in the first Allowed Mask in the R-column a 1 must be entered for a short run,
if it is the next higher one.

The functions of this check list can be completed according to the requirements of the
elevator.
This must be checked and the list below should be filled out, if necessary.
