INTRODUCTION
Community service is a vital element of civic participation, enabling
individuals to contribute to their communities' well-being while also
promoting their personal development. This narrative report seeks to capture
the varied experiences and insights gained from engaging in community
service activities. Through personal stories, reflective observations, and
participant feedback, the report offers a thorough overview of the
transformative journey that volunteers undergo.

Participating in community service allows individuals to extend their


influence beyond personal boundaries, addressing significant social issues
firsthand. Volunteers engage in diverse tasks, such as organizing events,

EVENTS/OBSERVATION

DAY 1: CLEAN-UP DRIVE

54On April 13, 2024. We, the


NSTP - LTS students, visited Brgy.
Poctoy in Surigao City to do the
community service such as cleaning
up the barangay. Our task for the day
was to clean the clogged drainage
system to improve the community's
cleanliness and safety. Upon arrival,
we were warmly welcomed by the
residents. After a quick briefing on
what needed to be done, we geared up
with gloves and trash bags. We
worked together to remove debris and
waste from the drainage, facing
challenges like heavy garbage and
muddy conditions.

teamwork and determination paid off
as we successfully cleared the
drainage, restoring its functionality
and cleanliness. The residents
expressed their gratitude for our help,
emphasizing the positive impact of our
work on their daily lives.

DAY 2: OPENING SALVO, LITERACY AND FEEDING
PROGRAM

On our 2nd Saturday, April 20, 2024. We LTS students returned to


Brgy. Poctoy, Surigao City for another day of community service. This time,
our participants were the daycare pupils of Brgy. Poctoy, eager and excited to
engage in a day filled with learning and nourishment. To make the most of
our time and resources, we divided our group into two teams. The first group
took on the role of educators, focusing on literacy and teaching the children,
while the second group handled the feeding and cooking responsibilities in the
kitchen throughout the program.

The day started with energetic opening salvo, filled with fun and
education. The assigned LTS students for literacy wasted no time and did the
teaching the children basic lessons such as the alphabet, identifying colors,

and counting numbers. The children's filled with happiness as they absorbed
new knowledge. When the morning activities were done.

It was time for lunch and feeding. The children gathered around for a
hearty meal that included sotanghon soup, lumpia, rice, and a sweet banana
for each child. The day was not just about teaching lessons and providing
meals; it was about creating a positive and enriching experience for the
daycare pupils of Brgy. Poctoy. The interactions, laughter, and shared
moments of learning and nourishment left a lasting impact on both the
students and the volunteers.

DAY 3: TREE PLANTING

The group 3 NSTP LTS students


went to Sitio Toril, Brgy. Looc, to
conduct a tree planting, utilizing
malunggay tree for vegitation purposes.
Tree planting is a community service
activity that contributes to
environmental conservation,
biodiversity enhancement, and climate
change mitigation.

The preparation phase


involves site selection, resource
coordination and volunteer
mobilizations. The planting day
involves orientation, team
assignments and planting process.
Post-planting reflections highlight
the environmental impact,
personal growth, community
engagement, and long-term
commitment of volunteers.
