SPIDER-GWEN Sample script

PAGE 1
1. CUT TO: A graffitti’d water tower where in bright green fluorescent paint we can clearly make out a crude
cartoon Vulture, flying with a gassy stink cloud in his wake. In big letters below him SPIDER-GWEN has written:

VULTURE IS LAME

2. PULL OUT: To reveal the area all around the water tower. All over the nearby billboards and rooftops
we can see that SPIDER-GWEN has spraypainted dozens of messages to THE VULTURE. Stuff ranging from childish put downs to
crude, mean cartoons of him. She’s basically turned a large portion of the skyline near the VULTURE’S apartment into a graffti
covered bathroom stall. Anyway, it’s a display that would be impossible to miss from the street, let alone the sky. Especially given
that it’s written in florescent neon green spray paint.

3. PULL OUT NOW to reveal SPIDER-GWEN perched on the fire escape outside THE VULTURE’S apartment. She’s self satisfied,
laughing inside at her own jokes as she works on the last of her tagging.
On the street below, bystanders and a film crew have gathered. A cop looks up taking notice. But they seem to be pointing at
something above her--

SPIDER-GWEN (To herself)

4. Spider sense tingles as SPIDEY looks up into the sky, to reveal a dozen VULTURES or more circling high above. Dead center, at
the eye of the circle is the VULTURE.

SPIDER-GWEN
You?

1. Out now as SPIDEY looks up at the VULTURE. He hovers at an impressive height keeping enough distance between them to
retain the tension and build the suspense. Though, through the power of comic books they can talk to one another clearly enough--

VULTURE
Is this meant to prey on my vanity?

To wound my ego? Feh.

SPIDER-GWEN
Okay, not my best, sure. But c’mooon
“Death from a Butt” is a pretty sick burn.

2. Vulture.
VULTURE
Poor confused child. Hunted
and hounded and still you seek
their approval?

[Link] SPIDEY-- as she steels herself, kind of rolling up her sleeves, Ready for the fight that we all know is coming.
 SPIDER-GWEN
Yeah-- Well, you’d know confused
wouldn’t you, Gramps.

SPIDER-GWEN
Come on down here. I bet we
can wound a part of you that still--

4. TIGHT on the dive bombing VULTURE, barrelling in a miraculous speed. Eyes bloodshot. The G-force pushing spit from his
flapping jowls. His sharp taloned hand extended out before him.

SPIDER-GWEN (off)
works?

5. GWEN narrowly dives clear of the FIRE ESCAPE as THE VULTURE slices right through it. GWEN is separated from her
PHONE and BACKPACK in the process, as they spiral toward the ground with the destruction...

(NOTE: I’m going to leave most of this dialog from here open, or roughed in. I’ll re-address it and punch it up after you’ve done your
thing. I'Gwen should be surprised The Vulture is attacking her so viciously. So at some point she’ll think or say something to the
effect of like "wow this guy's skin is as thin as it is wrinkly". The idea is that he just hates being put on blast like that because he's
eaten other people's crap his whole life. And of course, feel free to re-pace this action as needed for maximum impact)

1. Falling now, GWEN fires a web ball that hits the VULTURE right in the face.

2. THE VULTURE loses control and smashes into and through the wall of the nearby apartment building. GWEN follows in tow,
pulled by the trailing webline.

3. THE VULTURE is inside someone’s apartment, thrashing around blindly with his huge wings. He slices at SPIDEY with his wing.
MISSING and slicing something in half.

4. THE VULTURE has torn the webbing from his eyes, and is diving past the ducking SPIDEY, toward the gaping hole they entered
from.

5. GWEN fires a webline that tags and sticks to THE VULTURE.

SPIDER-GWEN
Nuh-huh, you old fart.
We’re just gettin’ started,

PAGE 4
1. OUT NOW, the VULTURE is pulling GWEN in his wake, high above the city. Headed straight up, back through the eye of this
Vulture circle.

VULTURE
No, little girl...

2. TIGHT on THE VULTURE as he wraps the webline in his fist, smiling back at GWEN viciously.

VULTURE
You’re finished.

3. In one motion the VULTURE slings SPIDER-GWEN past him like a sling shot, away from the city and out toward the HUDSON
RIVER.
4. … and cuts the webline with his talons.

SFX: SLCCSH!

PAGE 5
1. SPIDER-GWEN is out in space, free falling, with no buildings below her. There’s nothing but the water of the HUDSON below and
certain death.

2. WHITE GUTTER WITH A TIER WIDE TEXT ELEMENT:

TO BE CONTINUED…

3. CUT TO: GWEN’S PHONE, as it’s fallen out of her bag and lay on the street in the rubble of the destroyed building. On it’s face
we see an incoming call from DAD.

SFX: BRRRRNG BRRRRRNG BRNNNGGGGG
