Why appreciate art?

Art doesn’t necessarily center around galleries, exhibitions, and sculptures. Art is an
expression of everything, it is to show people what that person may feel, to show and raise
awareness, to show history, and many other more. That is the beauty of art.

Whenever I hear about art, it never really captures my attention because all I can think of
are paintings. I'm not good at anything that involves "art," or so I thought, because the only
definition I could think of is that art is just drawings of people. But that’s the art of learning, I get
to explore more about the nature of art and how it makes life like life. The understanding of the
world is art, mixing and matching my clothes is art, and the simple conversation I have with
someone is art. So there is no excuse to say that a person is not “artsy”. We are who we are, and
that is art in itself.

Anything that reflects our culture is art. The language, festivals, beliefs, and most
importantly, the people, the Filipino people. The Filipino people radiate art religiously, from their
smiles, hospitability, and the clash of different cultures. Art connects us to our rich heritage, it’s a
reflection of our history, and it is deeply engraved in our culture.

Art shapes us into who we are, it fosters creativity and imagination, qualities that enable
us to think innovatively and see the world from new perspectives.

I have learned that art is present in every aspect of life and is not confined to any one
medium. It shows itself in the ways that we communicate, express ourselves, and perceive the
world. Art should be experienced and appreciated in all of its forms rather than being limited or
defined.
