TikTok's Impact on Teaching Methods

The research employs pre-survey checklists, focus group discussions, and semi-structured interviews to assess TikTok's impact on language pre-service teachers' teaching methods. Thematic analysis is utilized to explore participant experiences, leading to the identification of key themes related to TikTok's influence on engagement and instructional practices. This structured yet flexible approach enhances data reliability and provides a comprehensive understanding of the pedagogical effects of TikTok.

Data Collection Tools

The research design makes use of pre-survey checklists next to focus group discussions and semi-
structured interviews to measure TikTok's impact on language pre-service teachers' teaching methods.
The data collection instruments work as a series where selection of participants happens first followed
by group sessions and finishing with personal reflections.

To begin with, pre-survey checklist functions as a first-step assessment to recognize participants who
understand both TikTok and educational uses of the platform (Creswell & Creswell 2018). The
recruitment of appropriate research participants stands as a critical step for collecting in-depth
responses because this study depends on it. The researchers conduct this assessment to select ten
respondents who achieve the highest scores among pre-service teachers based on their evaluations
against specified criteria. Data collection base is strengthened through this step because it selects
participants who possess adequate exposure and specific insights (Creswell & Creswell, 2018).

The researchers move ahead with focus group discussion (FGD) after respondent identification because
FGD serves as a qualitative approach to gather participant experiences through interactive discussions
(Krueger & Casey, 2015). Research by Krueger and Casey (2015) shows that FGDs differ from individual
interviews by creating an active dialogue space which lets participants expand their ideas as well as
clarify understandings and participate in significant debates. The study is able to obtain collective pre-
service teacher perspectives about TikTok's pedagogical effects through a collaborative research
environment created by the researchers (Morgan, 1997).

However, the researchers deployed semi-structured interview guides alongside FGDs because they
understood some participants could not participate in FGDs. By offering adaptability the tool allows
researchers to maintain consistent data collection principles (Merriam and Tisdell 2016). Participants
unable to join the FGD receive a semi-structured questionnaire which follows the discussion guide to
obtain their insights (Patton, 2015). Through this approach researchers gain deeper insight into
individual reflections since participants can share personal encounters which emerge better in one-on-
one settings (Merriam & Tisdell, 2016).

The combination of these three tools provides the study with an organized approach to flexible data
collection practices. The preliminary survey tool helps identify suitable participants (Creswell & Creswell,
2018) while Focus Group Discussions trigger meaningful discussions (Krueger & Casey, 2015) and semi-
structured interviews create an inclusive and profound research outcome (Patton, 2015). The
combination of these methods strengthens data reliability and enriches the collected data which leads
to enhanced understanding about TikTok's pedagogical influence.

Data Analysis
The analysis approach that researchers utilized is thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006) because it
facilitates comprehensive exploration of participant life experiences in phenomenological studies. By
using this method the researchers attempted to find important information within the data that
demonstrated how TikTok affects pre-service teachers' pedagogical methods.

First, the researchers started their work by conducting multiple reviews of the interview transcripts
alongside focus group discussion (FGD) transcripts to obtain an extensive understanding of the
participant narratives. The researchers used this phase to become so immersed with the data that they
could identify initial patterns with significant details (Nowell et al., 2017).

Next, to begin the research process the investigators applied systematic labeling methods on essential
textual segments to underline major ideas and important insights. The investigators focused their codes
on three primary study aspects including TikTok usage impact on engagement together with knowledge
acquisition and educational method creation. The data organization in this phase gave essential
foundation leading to theme identification through subsequent analysis (Saldaña, 2021).

Following the research questions of the study guided the transformation of initial codes into major
themes during the analytical process. The researchers now explored the role of TikTok in fostering active
learning activities and studied its effect on maintaining students' information retention while analyzing
the obstacles that pre-service teachers experience while adopting this platform for instructional
delivery. The research themes presented a realistic representation of both TikTok's supportive and
restrictive impacts on instructional practice based on the study conducted by Braun & Clarke (2012).

The researchers followed a review and refinement phase to verify their identified themes matched the
study’s objective requirements. The researchers double-checked theme validity by comparing them with
original data sources while eliminating any codes that proved redundant or unimportant. The
researchers strengthened their thematic framework to guarantee that research results precisely
mirrored participant viewpoints instead of biased interpretation or excessive generalization (Nowell et
al., 2017).

This phase offered more profound understanding of the thematic findings during interpretation and
reporting. The researchers examined these final themes in relation to Bandura’s Social Learning Theory
from 1977 which focuses on observational learning and Mayer’s Cognitive Theory of Multimedia
Learning (2001) which highlights the benefits of multimodal instructional content. The study drew
support from participant quotations that allowed their voices to directly represent pre-service teachers
throughout the analysis. By following this approach the study gained increased credibility and made sure
that researchers delivered results which precisely demonstrated participant experiences (Birt et al,
2016).

The study observed meaningful insights regarding pedagogical strategy development by pre-service
language teachers because of the system it provided both structure and flexibility during analysis. The
researchers established methodologically valid analysis while maintaining deep reflections of participant
experiences through their implementation of data familiarization, initial coding, theme identification,
theme refinement and interpretation steps.
