Track 17:

I: Welcome to Fitness Fanatics health club. I'd just like to start by taking a few personal
details, if I may. Your full name is…

J: Julie Ann Edmondson.

I: Thank you. And you're 23, Julie, is that right?

J: Yes. Oh, actually no, 24. It was my birthday last week.

I: And can I have a contact telephone number, please?

J: Yes, it's 07986745689.

I: And what's the best time to contact you?

J: Oh, after work would be better really. Anytime between say 6.00 and 9.00 p.m..

I: Fine. Now in a little while we'll do some fitness tests and I'll ask you a bit more about your
medical history. But first of all, I'd like to know a little more about why you've decided to join
the gym. What kind of exercise do you do at the moment?

J: Well, I do quite a bit of walking. I bought myself a Pedometer last year and I'm trying to do
at least 10,000 steps a day. I don't always make it though.

I: That's great. Walking is a good start. And do you get much exercise at work?

J: No, not really. It's pretty much a desk job, you see. There's a lot of sitting down. That's one
of the reasons I felt I needed to join the gym.

I: Yes. So what specific benefits are you looking for from joining the gym? For example,
would you like to lose weight or just get fitter?

J: I'm quite happy with my weight, but I'd like to keep it this way.

I: Weight maintenance (duy trì) then. Anything else? Fitness goals?

J: Yes, although I'm doing the walking, it doesn't leave me out of breath, you know, I don't
feel that I really get a lot of aerobic exercise, so I'd like to increase that.

I: Yes, that's fine. I think there are a number of ways we could help you achieve your targets.
How many times a week were you thinking of coming and for how long?

J: Well, I know I should come three times a week, but if I'm honest, it's only going to be
twice a week for about an hour or so.

I: Are you interested in doing any classes or would you rather just use the gym?

J: I'm not sure. What classes do you have?

I: All quite a range. We have a new class that's very popular. Zumba. That's all about getting
a work out by dancing to Latin music. It's on a Wednesday night at 6”30.
J: That sounds interesting, but I'm not great at dancing really. I prefer swimming. Do you
have any aqua erobics classes?

I: Yes, we do on a Thursday evening at 06:00 p.m.. Shall I put you down for that?

J: Yes, I'll give it a try. And what about the gym? Will someone show me round?

I: Yes, we'll need to make an appointment with one of our fitness instructors. Could you come
tomorrow evening?

J: I could, but I'd rather come on Friday if that's possible. Anytime after 07:00 p.m.

I: Okay then you have an appointment at seven with Mark.

J: Oh, I think I prefer to have a female trainer, actually.

I: No problem. Siobhan is free at 07:00 p.m. As well.

J: Could you spell that, please?

I: S-I-O-B-H-A-N.

J: Thanks. That's great.

Track 18

Agency: Hello? Good Moves accommodation Agency. Ben speaking. How can I help?

Clarice: Good morning. I'm calling about an apartment on your website and was wondering
if I could have some more information.

Agency: Certainly. Can I take your details before we get started?

Clarice: Sure.

Agency: Right. What's your name, please?

Clarice: Okay. My name is Clarice Willard. Clarice is C-L-A-R-I-C-E and Willard, W-I-L-L-
A-R-D

Agency: And have you got a contact number?

Clarice: Yes, I'll give you my mobile, which is 01928734566

Agency: That's great, thanks. And can I ask how you found us?

Clarice: Of course. A family member used you last year and recommended you, so I had a
look at your website, and well, that's why I'm calling now.

Agency: Okay, so which property are you interested in?

Clarice: The apartment on Statham Street, the one on the third floor.

Agency: Let me see. I'm afraid that flat's no longer available.

Clarice: No?

Agency: No, it went this morning. It's in a really popular part of town. We do have a house on
the same street if you're interested. It's 950 pounds a month.

Clarice: No, I think that's much too expensive. I think an apartment is all we can afford.

Agency: Oh, so it's not just for you?

Clarice: No, me and a friend, we're both starting work in the town next month.

Agency: All right, so it's two of you. So, let's see. Do you have any preferences (ưu tiên) in
terms of location?

Clarice: Both our jobs are in the town center, so it would be good to be within walking
distance of that or perhaps a short bus journey away. Neither of us have a car, so we'd be
relying on public transport.

Agency: And what's your budget (ngân sách)?

Clarice: I'm sorry?

Agency: How much can you pay a month?

Clarice: Let me see, 700 pounds a month is probably our limit.

Agency: Each?

Clarice: No, that would be for the both of us. We wouldn't be able to pay more than 350
pounds each. We wouldn't be able to pay more than 350 pounds each. Not phone bills,
obviously, but things like electricity, gas and water.

Agency: Okay, well, we do have a place in the Bampton district, which is about ten minutes
by bus from town. It's a two bedroom apartment and it's less than your budget at 600 pounds a
month. The bills would be extra, unfortunately, but that should still work out at less than 700
pounds. Although remember that electricity and gas prices are going up all the time, so I can't
guarantee that.

Clarice: Do you have an address?

Agency: I do. The apartment number is three and it's at 57 Thorney Leys Road.

Clarice: Hang on, let me just make a note of that. 57

Agency:Thorney Leys Road. Thorney is T-H-O-R-N-E-Y and Leys is L-E-Y-S, and the
district is called Bampton. Do you have an email address?

Clarice: Yes.

Agency: In that case I can send you the details and then you can think about it. And if you're
interested, I could arrange for a visit so you can see the place for yourself. How does that
sound?

Clarice: Oh, that would be really helpful. It's Clarice_Willard@...
