Project overview:-

Formation:- Embankment structure- SQ1 ( variables) , SQ2 ( 1.0 m ), Blanket ( 0.60 M) in top width of
13.86 m for double line. Track centre minimum. 6.0 m,
 Formation length- 134 kms., (48 kms. Parallel to IR & 86 kms in Detour)
 (SQ1+SQ2- 216 Lcum, Blanket- 14.59 Lcum)
 Max. Height- 13.6m at Ch.72.640,
 High embankment length(H>4m)- 80.16 Km
 Max cutting- 2.9m at Ch. 57.380

Major highlights:-

 Geocell in place of RCC Approach slab and on Side slope for slope stability
 Precast construction for Minor structure, Retaining Wall, Drain for speedy work.
 Adoption of use of Cohesive Non-Swelling (CNS) soil for replacement of unsuitable soil for Ground
Improvement.
 130MT Steel Girder launching in Narmada River using floating launching barge.
 82m OWG Girder (760 MT) launching over IR track by pulling method using Hillman roller.
 Assembly and launching of 02 OWG Girder (UP line) (770MT) in limited time of 45 days.
 Mechanized Track Laying by NTC machine of Harsco, USA
 Cant in turn out zone for smooth riding & reduced rolling contact fatigue, Make- VAEVKN, India.
 1080 Grade 110 UTS Head Hardened Rail for longer life & lesser maintenance from M/s Nippon
Steel, Japan
 Modern Turnout (thick web with weldable CMS crossing), Make- VAEVKN, India allowing 55kmph
speed in T/O portion.
 Long Flash Butt welded panels to avoid field joints, FBW Machine of Holland make
 CWR/LWR through point & crossings will enhance safety by avoiding free joints and reducing impact
in turnout zone.
 First Engine trial on 30.06.2023.
 First Goods train trial on 23.10.2023
 SAG inspection on 02.03.2024 and commissioning of section from 04.03.2024.
Salient features:-

1. 32.5 T axle load for heavier cargos & special wagons of height 7.10 metre and width 3.66 m shall
be used.

2. Long Haul Yards - Yards constructed to accommodate long haul 1500 m length.

3. Larger Haulage capacity - Train load planned - 13000MT with double stack containers .

4. Track laying by modern system - track laying mechanised by NTC machine of Harsco, USA

5. Cant in turn out for smooth riding & reduced rolling contact fatigue, Make- VAEVKN, India.

6. 1080 Grade 110 UTS Head Hardened Rail for longer life & lesser maintenance from M/s. Nippon
Steel, Japan & M/s JFC, Japan

7. Thick web turnout with weldable CMS crossing- Make- VAEVKN, India allowing 50kmph speed in
T/O portion.

8. CWR/LWR through point & crossings will enhance safety by avoiding free joints and reducing
impact in turnout zone.

9. Rails destressing by Super-Puller FB welding machine, Holland make

10. Geocell based bridge transition system in lieu of RCC Approach slab for Major bridges and also
Geocell on Side slope of formation for slope stability

11. Precast construction on Minor Bridges, Earth Retaining Walls, Drains, ALH, Signal
foundations etc for speedy work.
12. OWG Girder launching over IR track by pulling method using strand Jack with Hillman roller.
