Introduction

The background of siwes entells the meaning, history and objectives of siwes which will be briefly
discussed in this chapter.

Meaning of siwes: siwes simply means student industrial work experience scheme

History: siwes established by industrial training funds (itf) in 1973 to solve the problem of lack of
adequate proper skill for employment of tertiary institution by Nigeria industries.

The scheme serves as a smooth transition application of knowledge siwes was officially approved and
presentedby the federal govern in 1974

Objective of siwes

Swiwes is designed for the following purpose.

1. To create an avenue for student to acquire industrial skill for experience.


2. To expose students to work methods and techniques that may not be available in classroom.
3. To b ridge the gap between theory and practical by applying class room knowledge to real work
situation
4. Equipping student with better contact for future work placement

Bodies involve in the management of siwes

The management of siwes involves the federal government, Industrial Training Fund (ITF ) National
University Commission (NUC),Nationa Board For Technical Education (NBTE) and National Council For
Collages Of Edcation (NCCE).

Conclusion:

The establishment and management of siwes has brought drastic change in solving industrial problem
by graduates from Nigerian tertiary institutions.

History

Lee enginerring & construction company limited is an incorporated as a private limited liability company
in Nigeria under the companies and allied matters decree of 1990 on the 11 th of novermber 1991. The
company is leading indigenous epicom engineering, procurement, construction, operation and
maintaince company with an office at inception in 1991 at warri, delta state.

The company is structed as follows:

Administrations, operation and project, engineering, business development &relations
