About Dynamite
Dynamite was originally made of a material like sawdust which was soaked in nitroglycerin or other explosive material. It
was then wrapped into sticks approximately 8 inches long with a diameter of 1.25 inches. Early forms of dynamite were
unstable and had a one year shelf life (if stored properly). Today, different formulas are used to make it more stable.

Dynamite can be ignited several ways: heat, flame, or shock. Flame ignited dynamite typically results from a burning wick.
The length of the wick determines how long it will take to detonate. Shock detonation requires a blasting box and wire.

FYI: TNT and dynamite are not the same. TNT uses trinitrotoluene, not nitroglycerin.
