Interview set up and biography

I organized my interview and set it to happen at Hannah’s office in her research

laboratory by interviewing her in person. Hannah’s laboratory is focused on determining the

relationship between social exposure and drug abuse. Hannah developed an interest in

psychology at an early age which drove her to study psychology at the University of Wisconsin.

She studied and graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology and later enrolled for a P.H.D

program in the same university where she completed in 2010. Currently, Dr Hannah is a lecturer

at Yale University and balances her time between teaching and her research laboratory. Her main

objective of starting the laboratory is to find a relationship between drug abuse and social factors.

The interview

Question 1: some people pursue psychology to develop a positive effect on a person

struggling with behavioral disorders. According to you, is this same reason that made you

pursue the cause?

I admired to be a therapist since I was young. The mental problems that people go through in life

are the drivers of the pursuit of this career. Additionally, my dad suffered socially due to

alcoholism, and this was the beginning of my desire to help those kinds of people.

Question 2: as a psychologist, it is right to say that you face challenges. Where do you find

strength to continue?

Throughout my interactions with people, I have developed a desire to help others and hope that

mental problem can be solved through openness and willingness to get well. Therefore the desire

to help others gives me strength to always continue doing impacting their lives.

Question 5: when patients don’t realize they have a problem, what is the best strategy to

use in that situation?

The last thing you will do as a psychologist is to give up. Patience should apply in this case and

believe the person will still accept the problem. This is always the first step to healing.

Healing is a process, and sometimes patients lose hope during the process. But as a psychologist,

it is wise to be the source of hope to the patient if intended results are to be attained.

Changes in the patient's behavior provide the progress of the exercise. If the changes are positive,
