Honor Band Audition Information:


Date: Thursday, November 16th, 2023
Location: Atlantic Coast High School (9375 RG Skinner Pkwy, Jacksonville, FL 32256)
Time: Will be assigned prior to your audition *It's best to arrive at least thirty (30) minutes before your audition*
- Ask your Band Director for a Participant's Contract. This must be filled out and submitted to your Director before they
can register you for the audition.
-On the day of the audition be prepared to perform the etude above (in one minute and thirty seconds, max.)
as well as the items listed below.
- You will be given two minutes (2:00) to play the following seven (7) Major Scales - G C F Bb Eb Ab Db

(Concert Pitch) from memory in the FBA All-State pattern = Scale:  ŒÂŒÂŒÂ- Arpeggio: ŒÂ ŒÂ
The scales and arpeggios will be tongued ascending and slurred descending. *Major Scales should be played in complete octaves.
*All Major Scales should be played in two octaves where possible *Students who wish to play a 3rd octave may do so.
- After playing the seven (7) Major Scales, you will be given 30 seconds to play the Chromatic Scale according to the
Middle School FBA All-State requirements = A suggested tempo is even 8th notes at a tempo of MM quarter note = 144.
-The audition will conclude with 30 seconds to study a Sight Reading peice and 1 minute, max.,to perform it.
