Materials

1) Three cups of water


2) Food coloring/dye
3) Three bottles
4)One 4-inch celery from the root
5) One 6-inch celery from the root
6) One 8-inch celery from the root
7) Phone for recording a time-lapse
8) Ruler to measure plant length
9) Scissors to cut plant
Procedure
1) Dye the water a deep color
2) Distribute the dyed water: one cup for each bottle
3) Cut the celery into three lengths: four, six, and eight inches
4)Place one celery in each bottle and label: plant lengths,
amount of water, and time started
5) Set up a timer for four hours
6) Do four more after that (20 hours in total)
7) Set up a Google Sheets and record the data!
To perform this experiment, I dyed a cup of water to a deep
purple color, cut the celery into different lengths, and took
photos every four hours for twenty hours. The celery was cut
into four, six, and eight inches. The 8-inch celery was halfway
submerged in the water, while the 6-inch was around two-thirds
submerged, and the 4-inch one was almost fully submerged.
