DSAT Math Course

(for hard questions at the end)

Self Intro
- Hi! I am Jerry, a high school student in Canada. This session is on math on
the new digital SAT and if you have any questions or concepts you would like
to review please drop them on the zoom chat. It’s great to have you guys
attended this session and I hope that this series is helpful!
- This session will be 45 minutes long and will take place every Sunday for 3
weeks in total. I will extend the series if you guys find it helpful and want to
continue.
Introduction
- This course is to specifically review the more complicated and challenging problems
for the last 5 questions of module 2 on the DSAT.
- We will work through some practice problems and review some of the key concepts.
- Sometimes the trick to improving your score at this level is just pure practice! Time
management skills and speed comes from repetition and practice. A lot you who
signed up for this series may just be lacking this key component and it is possible
that you may find that you remember or vaguely remember the concepts necessary
but just have difficulty or require significant time to recall and apply this. This can
again be improved through practice!
- I improved from 710 to 790 in a month with minimal studying just by doing the
course challenge on Khan Academy thrice in tota, taking less than 2 hours of my
time for a 80 point increase.
Resources
- SAT Educator Question Bank: [Link]
- I recommend that you complete 5 questions on topics of your choice (focus on what you
need to work on) each week.
- Khan Academy: Please do questions of your choice on topics that feel “shaky”. Also, take
the course challenges a few times when you feel ready in order to solidify your
understanding and application of these concepts.
- Bluebook Practice Tests
- I recommend doing 2 practice tests before the actual exam. Please do it under testing
conditions and review what you got wrong.
- (Tip for Reading and Writing: start on question 15 to work on the easier and faster questions
first) [Don’t worry I’m also certified in the R&W portion]
- Additional resources:
- ChatGPT could be a great resource for quizzing you your desired topics and providing a
detailed explanation

Question 2
- Note that (f∘g)(2) is just another way of writing f(g(2)) just as (f∘g)(x) is just
f(g(x)).
- You would simply plug in g(x) or in this case g(2) to the f(x) function as x=g(2).
-g(x) = x^2-1 and g(2)=3 when you plug in x=2.
- This means that f(g(2)) is just f(3).
- Now find f(3)! (answer on next slide)
Answer
- f(x)=2x+3
- f(3)=2(3)+3
- f(3)=9
