PIL

Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in India allows individuals or groups to file lawsuits for the protection of public interests, such as environmental issues and social justice. While PILs have led to significant legal reforms, they have also faced criticism for being misused for publicity and political agendas, burdening the judiciary with frivolous cases. The courts must ensure that petitions are filed bona fide and not for ulterior motives to preserve the integrity of the PIL process.
