Proposed System:
Coastal Kenya Tourism Preference Analysis System (CKTPAS
1. Goals
Analyze and establish the preferences of local tourists in Coast Kenya.
Render information pertinent to the tourism sector such as to improve tourist satisfaction and
consequent increase in tourism.
2. Data Collection
Surveys: Design and deploy structured questionnaires targeted at local tourists in the key tourist
destination sites within the Coastal Kenya region.
Interviews: Conduct interviews with a sample of tourists for the purpose of getting qualitative
data.
Observational Studies: Carry out observations of tourists' behavior and preferences at different
attractions.
3. Data Analysis
Descriptive Analysis: Describing the data will give an idea of the general attributes of the data
set in terms of demographics, travel patterns, etc.
Inferential Analysis: Patterns and relationships will be inferred with statistical parameters
Use ML methods for preference prediction and clustering of tourists based on different features.
4. Key Metrics
Demographics: Age, sex, income level, level of education. Travel Pattern: Frequency of
visitation, duration of stay and mode of transport.
Preferences: Activities, attractions, types of accommodation and restaurants preferred.
Satisfaction levels: General satisfaction in terms of the tourism experience.
5. Features of the System
User-Friendly Interface: User-friendly dashboard for stakeholders to view and analyze data.
Real-Time Data Updating: Giving system real-time data, enabling time-sensitive decisions.
Custom Reports: Allowing users to tailor-make reports based on specified criteria.
Predictive Modelling: Future trends and preferences should be forecasted using ML models.
6. The Implementation Plan
Phase One: Planning and Design: Define project scope, create survey instruments and architect
system design.
Phase Two: Data Collection: Survey, Interview, and Observation.
Phase Three: Data Analysis: Analyze data results using statistical and ML approaches.
Phase Four: System Development: Build CKTPAS with those features.
Phase Five: Deployment and Training: Implement the system and train stakeholders in its
operation.
Phase Six: Monitoring and Evaluation: Continue monitoring and, if required, recalibrate the
system.
7. Expected Outcomes
Improved Visitor Experience: Tailored tourism products in line with local demand.
Increased Tourism Revenue: More tourists attracted through fulfilment of individual needs.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Giving stakeholders insights that will guide making decisions in
the process of planning.
