REFLECTION

NSTP 2 - COA BSA 1B-B

GROUP 5

Our NSTP community service immersion was a meaningful and memorable experience.
We conducted a seminar on mental health awareness at Magsaysay National High
School, aiming to help students better understand the importance of taking care of their
mental well-being. As college students, we know how challenging life can get, and we
wanted to share what we’ve learned to help younger students prepare for the pressures
they might face.

Preparing for the seminar was a challenge in itself. We had to organize our ideas, do
proper research, and present the topic in a way that would connect with high school
students. It made me realize that we weren’t just sharing information—we were
becoming guides and role models for a younger audience. The experience pushed us to
grow in confidence, responsibility, and empathy.

During the seminar, we saw how interested and engaged the students were. Some of
them started out quiet, but eventually became more open, asking questions and sharing
thoughts. It was clear that topics like mental health are rarely talked about openly in
their environment, and that made our presence even more important. We may have
only spent a short time with them, but we could tell our message mattered.

What struck me the most was realizing that this kind of seminar could be life-changing
for some of the students. For others, it might just be a helpful reminder. Either way, just
knowing we made even a small difference was incredibly rewarding. It showed me that
service isn't always about doing something big—it’s about showing up and being there
for others in whatever way we can.

Overall, this experience taught me the value of community involvement and reminded
me how important mental health education is—especially for young people. I’m grateful
we got to be part of something that could help even one person feel more understood,
supported, and aware of their own well-being.
