What is a Mars Rover?


• A Mars rover is a remote-controlled vehicle that is
specifically designed to travel in the harsh conditions
of Mars
• The Mars Rovers, in search of life, explores the
terrains of the red planet as well as the Geographic
History

Importance of the Mars Rover


 The mars Rover helps put us a step closer towards
finding life in Mars
 The technology used pushes the human race
forward in terms of improving technology

Brief history of the Mars Rover


• Sojouner 1997 only traveled over a 100m,
communication was lost.
• Spirit, Mars Exploration Rover, LAUNCHED IN 2003,
travelled over 7.73km in six years. Wheels got
trapped in sand
• Opportunity, Mars Exploration Rover-B, launched in
2003 as well, surpassed the previous rovers before it
with a record of 45.16km. Due to the Mars dust storm
in 2018 blocking the sunlight, opportunity’s batteries
died.
• The current active Rovers are Curiosity and
Perseverance.
