Accommodation in the hostel is provided on a chargeable basis at Rs. 30/- per day, depending on availability. Students must abide by any related rules and may need to deposit caution money. The terms ensure that accommodation is affordable but contingent upon availability and compliance with the institute’s policies.

Research areas include skyrmions, relativistic hydrodynamics, quantum information theory, computational material science, and others. These areas are significant due to their cutting-edge nature, offering substantial academic impact and preparing students for future research or academic careers. Each field is backed by established faculty conducting advanced research, thus providing valuable educational exposure.

Faculty PIs are responsible for student selection, supervision, and monitoring of activities inside the lab and campus. They guide the conduct of experiments, analysis, and dissertation drafting. Interaction is critical, as students are required to strictly follow PI instructions and maintain discipline under their supervision, highlighting the educational mentorship involved in the program.

Students have no rights to the data generated during their project work at NISER, which is entirely owned by NISER for academic and research purposes. The use of data for authorship in publications, patents, or for any other purpose without the prior approval of NISER is prohibited. The data can only be used to prepare the dissertation thesis under the faculty's supervision, and a copy can be deposited at the student's parent institution if required.

The eligibility criteria for the program require students to be registered/enrolled in Postgraduate (PG) or Integrated MSc degree courses related to Physical Sciences at recognized universities or institutions. Students must also have a partial requirement to fulfill a dissertation thesis work in the field of Physical Sciences.

The program fee required from students from private institutions is likely due to resource allocation and administrative costs involved in hosting external students. This policy can also ensure commitment from the participants and help support the infrastructure needed for their research work. It is justified to maintain program sustainability and quality while extending opportunities to a wide range of students.

NISER reserves the right to take disciplinary or legal action if students fail to maintain confidentiality, misuse data, or behave improperly. Violations include unauthorized use of data for personal or publication purposes and misuse of internet facilities. Students are also expected to maintain decorum and compliance with all NISER rules, emphasizing the serious commitment required.

The no-extension policy ensures rigorous time management and resource allocation for participating students. Exceptions may be granted if candidates show satisfactory performance and the project requires an extension, which must be evaluated by a committee appointed by the Chairperson of the School. This policy underscores the program’s commitment to structure and efficiency, while still allowing flexibility under exceptional circumstances.

Applicants must submit a scanned copy of the filled application form, a 'Bonafide-Cum-No Objection Certificate', and other supporting documents as a single PDF attached to an email sent to the respective Lab-PI or Faculty In-Charge. Applications lacking this certificate or submitted after the deadline will not be considered. This process ensures the authenticity and eligibility of applicants.

Benefits include gaining hands-on experience in scientific experiments, working under the guidance of renowned faculty, and access to NISER's resources. Limitations involve paying a program fee of Rs. 10000/- for the 6-month duration, with additional costs for any extension. No financial support or stipend is offered, and students must maintain their own equipment for computational work.
