SPEAKING FROM
EXPERIENCE...
If we haven’t of cially met, my name is Chasen Hill, and
I know Jiu-Jitsu. Not only have I obtained my Black Belt,
but I’ve helped thousands of Jiu-Jitsu students develop
their training plans over my 10 years of teaching.

Actually, my students have seen such success after

following my strategies, and they’re growing even
faster than I did!

It’s incredible to see students having clear objectives

and con dence, knowing their Jiu-Jitsu will improve
if they stick with it.

What Is A
Acceleration Plan?
Acceleration Plan:

Your Acceleration plan is a working plan that

will assist you in navigating the complex
world of Jiu-Jitsu and ensuring that you
continue to experience results.

The Acceleration plan covers your speci c

goals, existing and future interests, and the
necessary abilities. It is not fancy or
faultless; it is merely a template that will
assist you in organizing your collected and
processed data into a training plan.

LET’S GET TO BUILD

YOU A PLAN 3

STEP #1:
EVALUATE YOUR
JIU-JITSU DATA

Jiu-Jitsu data is constantly collected from

live sparring, drilling, competitions, etc. The
data collected will then be analyzed either
on the y-in training or re ected posted
training.

Collecting the correct Jiu-Jitsu data will help

you gure out the best starting spot when
developing your training plan.

1. On The Fly Analyzing

The most popular sort of analysis used by

students. It generally happens on its own.
This normally takes signi cantly longer to
master. Furthermore, the complexity and
confusion of training frequently prevent
students from gathering useful data.

2. Post Training Analyzing

The extensive analysis you conduct after the

training session has ended. When sitting on
the couch, you get that "I should have done
this" moment. Post-training analysis is
extremely bene cial to your progress,
regardless of your ability level.

Suggested Analyzing Strategies

• Videoing A Training Session
• Journaling and re ection
• Self Auditing Abilities

STEP #2:
IDENTIFYING
WINS & LOSSES
1. WINS

We divide our data into wins and losses after we

have studied it. Winning tactics, moves, or
concepts are often those in which I thrive or feel
powerful when practicing.

2. Losses

Losses are aspects that I am not aware of or

failures identi ed during my data analysis
techniques. As a result, your losses will provide
vital information about potential beginning places
for your approach.

STEP #3:
STUDY THE
HIERARCHY
[Link]. When attempting to build a
plan, you must apply your Jiu-Jitsu data and knowledge of
the Jiu-Jitsu hierarchy. This will provide you with a step-
by-step guide to the most ef cient way to achieving your
objectives.

Basic Hierarchy:
1
Submissions

2
Top
Postions

3
Bottom
Postions

Why Students Struggle: They usually try the “Start at the top
and go down” path.

1
Submissions

2
Top
Postions

3
Bottom
Postions

1. Submissions
Most students normally attempted to submissions
rst and try to win as fast as possible

2. Top Position
If students can’t nish with submissions, they will
then try to just get dominant position

3. Bottom Position
Usually this is where students want to spend the
least amount of time developing

Faster Way to Process: Flip the hierarchy up side down

1
Bottom
Position

2
Top
Postion
Bottom to Top Funnel

3
Submissions

1. Bottom Position
Where the majority of white and early blue belts
should spend the majority of their time. The rst
priority is to improve.

2. Top Position
Gaining pro ciency at the bottom with sweeps and
reversals will result in more time spent at the top.

3. Submissions
Submissions will begin to appear as you continue to
nd success and comfort in achieving high positions
and dominating with good controls.

STEP #4:
QUALITY TRAINING
OBJECTIVES
Your quality training objectives are the small objectives
you are doing every training session, moving you toward
achieving your goals or improving your losses.

There are hundreds of ideas you can use to set these

goals. However, the easiest way to start is with broad,
medium, or narrow focuses.

Types of focuses:
• Get tapped less than 3 times (broad focus)
• Escapes bottom position at least twice (medium focus)
• X Pass to Kimura side mount nish (narrowed focus)

Most students make their plans to narrow focus in the

begging!
The less skilled you are, the broader, the better. This
starts the snowball rolling down the hill effect and builds
good momentum.

STEP #5:
WHO ARE MY
TRAINING PARTNERS
Understanding your training partners' ability levels can
bene t you in developing an intelligent training plan.
There are three kinds of training partners.

1. More skilled
In the early stages of your journey, these will be your most
common training partners. Understanding the Jiu-Jitsu
hierarchy as well as your Jiu-Jitsu data will aid in the
development of a training plan.

2. Less Skilled
When you reach a speci c level of pro ciency, you will be
able to train with less skilled students. Take advantage of
this opportunity to improve your "offense" or “defense”.

3. Equal Skill
These are your gym wars. Training parents who are equal
to are excellent at pointing out obvious aws that need to
be corrected.

A speci c training plan for each level of training parent will

ensure that you are not wasting time.
