PROGRAM DESIGN
Title: “IMS KO, KATABANG MO : MaTaBataMaTa (Magkita Ta Bata para Makabasa Ta)
Introduction:
The present situation of our country today reduces the ability of the schools to intensify its reading programs. The absence of the face to
face classes makes it challenging for the learners and the teachers to conduct remediation program to those learners who are identified as non-readers and
learners under frustration level. However, the Department of Education never stop encouraging the teachers to find ways and means to address the reading
problem. Furthermore, instructional materials and other means of learning was used to address the problem. It is used during remediation, face to face, online
reading activity, and collaborative activity.
Reading place a great role in children’s life. It is the most significant skill that a person should have. It is very much useful in
communicating people, finding answers to the questions and acquiring new ideas. Reading is important and that is why school age children must not take it
for granted. Through the project, “IMS KO, KATABANG MO, MaTaBataMata (Magkita Ta Bata para Makabasa Ta) is really a great help to our learners to
minimize reading difficulties. It is a teacher made IMS and enhanced well to cater the needs of the learners.

Goals/Objectives:
Increase the reading proficiency of the learners
Use appropriate reading materials suited to the reading level of the learners
Develop love for reading
Train pupils’ culture in reading
Rationale:
The new normal set-up affects the reading performance of the learners. Reading comprehension skills in English language has
been barring the children’s ability to respond to the modules. Parents have realized that they cannot guarantee quality of instruction in modular learning due
to their inability to understand the concept. Majority of the parents admit that their ability in reading is also quite low. Thus, this is the reason why they
cannot fully teach their children the way they wanted to be.
Based on the assessment of the learners, it was found out that they have really difficulties in reading specifically
reading comprehension. However, the reading program entitled “MaTaBataMaTa (Magkita Ta Bata para Makabasa Ta)” is implemented to those who
has difficulty in reading. Moreover, the program is implemented through limited face to face, home visitation and peer-tutoring with strict compliance to
safety health protocols.
