| was sitting in the living room, watching the television.
The television program had just ended and
advertisements were now playing. My gaze drifted
from the television to the wall filled with photos. Each
one of them, stored a memorable event. One of the
photos caught my gaze, it was the photo where me and
my friends, Emily and Sarah, was holding a certificate
and a trophy. As the advertisement continued playing,
all the memories of that particular photo came
crushing down on me like a waterfall.
About two months ago, my PE teacher decided to sign
the whole class for a relay racing competition in hopes
that we will get to know each other better since we
were all new to each other. He grouped us into groups
of threes, without letting us choose pair teammates. |
got grouped up with Emily and Sarah. The three of us
never had the beet impression of each other. Thus, we
could not even train together without arguing. Closer
to the competition, we finally decided to train. We
started off doing our usual warm up routine and did
not speak throughout the whole process. When we
started to try a trail run of the relay race, we started
arguing. Vulgar words were yelled out and we started
flighting. A passerby saw this and came over to stop usfrom fighting.
Finally, we calmed down and the person told us that
we should try and talk things out.
The three of us sat down and and started to talk things
out and we ended up chatting. We found out that we
actually had a lot of things in common. Afterwards, the
following trining sessions were way more enjoyable.
Although there were still things that we still argued
over, we managed to resolve them and bonded even
closer.
Soon, it was the competition. | was the second to run
and the moment the first runners started running, the
audience started roaring with cheers and | got even
more anxious. The moment the first runner passed me
the stick, | snatched it over and bolted down to the last
runner. Everyone were cheering for the last runners as
they, one by one, cross the finishing line.
When it was finally time for hr prize ceremony,
everyone was very anxious. The prize-presenter finally
announced “And now, in the first place, we got...Emily,
Sarah and jasmine!” | froze when | heard my group
members name being called out. We missed so may
training session yet we still won? That is justimpossible! Sarah gave me a nudge and | went with her
to collect our prize and trophy.
That day, we not only achieved the first place, but also
a better friendship.
“Jasmine! Stop watching the television and go do your
homework!” My mother called from the kitchen. |
snapped out from my thoughts and went off to
complete my assignments.
