For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you
a hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11
Good evening, distinguished members on the dias, respected teachers, dear
parents and my fellow graduates. It is with great pleasure and honour that I stand
before you as the Head Girl to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have
been our pillars of support throughout this memorable journey.
First and foremost, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our teachers. Your patience,
dedication and belief in us have been our guiding force. We may not have been the
best behaved or most co-operative but your unwavering patience and affectionate
anger has made us what we are today. Beyond textbooks and exams, you have taught
us life lessons and values. You believed in us even when we did not, for that, we are
forever grateful.
To our parents and families, thank you for your endless sacrifices, unrelenting support
and unconditional love. Your encouragement has been our strength, pushing us
forward through every challenge. What we celebrate today is a testament to your faith
in us.
A special note of appreciation for our dear akkas and annas, our non-teaching staff -
the backbone of our school. Your efforts behind the scenes to ensure smooth
functioning and maintenance of a safe environment for us have not gone unnoticed.
To all the departments and clubs, thank you for giving us the platform to explore,
learn and grow. The opportunities we’ve received have enriched our learning far
beyond the confines of our classrooms.
As I look around, I see familiar faces – my batchmates – we’ve been with each other
through every late night study sessions, every stressful exam, every punishment, every
embarrassing moment, every victory and every defeat. This journey would’ve been
incomplete without you all.
Thanks to the immense support we’ve received, we stand here today carrying within
us something far greater than memories. Guided by our motto – lighted to lighten,
let’s promise to use our knowledge and values to illuminate the paths of others.
It is truly an honour to stand here, representing our incredible batch of 2025. We’ve
evolved from building lego blocks to building futures, from being told not to play
with fire to receiving our own candles tonight – it’s been quite a journey. We’ve all
walked different paths to get here –many have been here since kindergarten while a
few of us joined mid-way. No matter where we started, we stand united tonight as a
display of God’s marvellous handiwork and a culmination of innumerable efforts and
sacrifices. We have made it through the highs and the lows as a testament
to Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
High school especially has been a handful. From being hyperactive monkeys, we
transformed into hibernating bears thanks to a year of online classes. Our collective
harmony of “online class ma’am” every time our high school teachers scold us for not
recollecting basic 8 grade syllabus is proof of our dedication to the hybrid mode.
th
Nothing compares to being in Offline School. From climbing trees and toppling tables
during breaks to singing in class by converting the same tables into drums - even our
favourite pass-times have changed. However, the ritual of sending the most well-
behaved student to beg for PT periods remains the same. From convincing teachers to
let us free cause we’ve already endured two long periods of maths to pleading to leave
class just 2 minutes before the bell to beat the canteen rush only to find out that the
last box of biryani had “just been sold” – we’ve done it all. Our 11 grade excursion
th
to Wayanad deserves a special mention for being one of the best excursions in
Scudder history thanks to an amazing set of teachers and obviously ourselves. Several
other moments like practices for variety entertainment, IHAs, talent show and sports
events, rushing to complete sweeping duties, leading the assembly choir, zero period
volleyball, especially our teachers’ iconic catchphrases in class ranging from “I will
disown you, class” to “all stand”– though seemingly small, have shaped our school
years into a colourful mosaic of memories.
There was a time when we roamed around these buildings, filled with nervousness
and a longing to go home but now that it’s time to leave, we realise that this is home.
Even as we are seated here tonight, we’re still reluctant to digest that it’s over – gone
are those sweet days of innocent bliss which we used to grumble about. It’s finally
over. Now, as we step out to what’s next, there’s no denying the uncertainty of what
lies ahead. From here, we take different paths — but one thing remains the same:
We have all been equipped with the tools we need. Our time here has taught us more
than just our subjects. We’ve been taught life lessons out of syllabus as well.
We’ve learnt that success isn’t always about perfection, but about persevering even
when the road ahead looks difficult. We’ve learnt that integrity and compassion
outlasts any other accomplishment in life. Most importantly we’ve been trained to live
a life that exemplifies Jesus.
To my fellow graduates, today might be goodbye for now, but it’s a new beginning of
adventures and opportunities. I encourage you to embrace the unknown. Be bold.
Take risks. And remember, it’s okay to miss the mark at times. In this busy world,
let’s not forget what truly matters — the relationships we’ve built, the values we’ve
learnt, and the person we’ve become in this process. We are the future, and the world
is waiting for us.
In conclusion, I put forth a challenge to my dear ISC batch of 2025 and juniors; let us
all strive to live up to
Matthew 5:16
Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your
Father in heaven
Thank you
