Impression Roller Undercutting Guidelines

The document outlines the proper undercutting procedures for impression rollers, emphasizing the need to maintain a minimum thickness of 4mm for the semi-conductive layer and a cut depth of at least 5mm. It warns against incorrect substrate widths, stating that a minimum distance of 5mm must be maintained between the edges of the impression roller and the substrate to prevent sparking. Additionally, it highlights the importance of ensuring that the substrate is consistently wider than the impression roller by at least 5mm on each side.

When undercutting impression rollers, care must be taken to ensure that a residual
thickness of the semi‐conductive layer remains on top of the isolator layer of the
impression roller or the core of the impression roller sleeve. The semi‐conductive
layer must not be cut away all the way through to the isolator! Always leave a semi‐
conductor thickness of at least 4mm. The depth of cut away should be at least 5mm.
