Executive Branch

Consists of the president and they veto and


sign bills , make treaties with approval.

Legislative branch
Made up of the congress , they can make
laws , declare war , approve presidential
appointments.

Judicial branch
Made up of the supreme court , settling legal
disputes , interpreting state laws

Checks and balances


Each branch has power to check another
branch without one branch having too much
power or authority.

When something has to be sent back to the

Bringing charges against a government
official.

Federalism
The same territory is controlled by 2 levels of

Division of powers
The Legislature makes the laws . Executive
