1. Introduction. (Role of media)
Today media has become a part of everyone’s life.
Media plays a major role in today’s society, by becoming the food to
strengthen or to weaken the society.
The role of a media has to be one way where trading and marketing
of products, and prejudices takes place.
It gives geographical knowledge about how people are divided. The
media is claimed to be governed by righteousness and equity for
the common man to the rich man.
2. Types of Media.(Print and Electronic)
Media refers to the means of mass communication that help spread
information or news related to different sectors like sports,
education, entertainment, politics, etc., to a large population in a
short period of time. Print media and electronic media are two of
the major forms of mass media.
I. Print Media
It is a popular form of advertising that uses physically printed
media like newspapers, magazines, books, leaflets, brochures
etc.
II. Electronic Media
Electronic media refers to all means of sharing information,
except the print media, such as radio, television, internet etc.
It is a media that can be shared on electronic devices for the
audience viewing.
3. Advantages and Disadvantages of print media over
electronic media.
ADVANTAGES
I. Encourages Action
When people use the Internet, they try to avoid ads at all cost.
This isn’t the case with print media. Most print readers are
motivated to take some form of action after viewing a
magazine or newspaper ad. For example, ads for a local
grocery chain product sale encourage customers to visit the
store and buy the product right away.
The idea that the item, at such a good price, could go out of
stock sends signals to the reader that they need to take
immediate or soon action, so they don’t miss out.
II. Holds Readers’ Attention
People surf the Internet with multiple tabs open, while texting
their friends, and half-listening to the television in the
background.
With all this constant stimulation, it’s almost impossible to
focus on a single thing for very long.
But, print readers cannot multitask while they are reading on
the magazine or newspaper. This means they can focus on
what they see and be more receptive to the ads within the
publication.
This benefit of newspaper advertising is one of the reasons
why so many big brands still post ads in print.
DISADVANTAGES
I. Availability
Print media is not available 24x7, rather at regular intervals,
e.g., daily newspaper, weekly or monthly editions of
magazines, booklets etc., but electronic media is available
24x7, e.g., news channels broadcasting news 24x7.
II. Accessibility
The reach of print media is limited, e.g., it covers a particular
region, city or state etc., but the reach of electronic media is
worldwide; it can send information across the world.
III. Time Consumption
Print media is slower than electronic media as printing
newspaper, books, magazines, etc., takes a lot of time,
electronic media is much faster than print media as writing
and uploading a story that has happened just a few moments
ago may take only a few minutes.

5. Main content of print and electronic media.
PRINT MEDIA
Print media is one of the oldest and basic forms of mass
communication.
It includes newspapers, weeklies, magazines, monthlies and
other forms of printed journals.
The contribution of print media in providing information and
transfer of knowledge is remarkable.
Even after the advent of electronic media, the print media has
not lost its charm or relevance. Print media has the advantage of
making a longer impact on the minds of the reader, with more in-
depth reporting and analysis.
ELECTRONIC MEDIA
It is a powerful version of media that has visual appeal and is more
convincing as people can listen to the radio, see live pictures of
events on television, can view or read text or images on smart
phones etc.
Electronic media is the media that
uses electronics or electromechanical means for the audience to
access the content.
6. Its contribution to India’s economic development.
Economic parties need accurate and timely information to allocate
resources efficiently. Investors and other groups demand a
governance-monitoring role from the media.
A free and independent media can provide information and monitor
the economic policy development process which in turn may lead to
more effective economic policies.
It can also reduce political risk and increase good governance
conditions that are important for robust economic development.
Media can also indirectly reduce corruption by providing accurate
information to the people of the country.
7. Role of media to safeguard democracy and constitution of
India.
Without media, democracy of India cannot be successful.
In simple words democracy is the government of the people, for the
people and by the people. In this sense for the active and vigilant
participation of free press is essential in a democratic society. It is
voice of the people. It plays an important role in the shaping of a
healthy democracy.
Media is considered as the fourth pillar of the democratic society
after Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary. Democracy and media
walk hand in hand. Media strengthens not only the democratic
values and norms but also quickens the speed of development .
In Indian constitution, the right to press was inserted in freedom of
speech and expression i.e., Article 19.
8. List of media in India. (Few Telugu and English)
Zee Telugu

Hindustan Times
The Economic Times
CNBC TV18
India Today
Times Now
9. The attitude of the Indian Government toward Media.
The problem of “fake news” and misinformation appears to be a
substantial problem in India.
However, unlike the United States, where the focus is mostly on
foreign based misinformation campaigns, India has more of a
domestic misinformation problem involving major political parties
and associated “cyber-army” groups.
There is no specific provision in Indian law that specifically deals with
fake news. However, there are several offenses in India’s Penal Code
that criminalize certain forms of speech that may be relevant to
fake.
Government should try avoiding the spread of fake news in India.
10. The attitude of the people towards Media.
The influence of mass media has an effect on many aspects of
people, which can include voting a certain way, individual views
and beliefs, or skewing a person's knowledge of a specific topic due
to being provided false information.
Indians react very actively towards media. Media influences
Indians a lot which ultimately influences India.
11. The positive and negative impacts of social media on
Students and adults.
Positive Impacts of Social Media on Students and Adults
I. Teens use social media to be part of the conversation
With the rise of social media, everyone is able to share their
views, insights, thoughts, and feelings about what’s going
on around them.
This is also done through more entertaining and engaging
forms, like homemade videos, user rants, funny memes, or
impactful photographs.
II. Social media is an outlet for creativity
Social media outlets provide students with a platform to
share their creativity and their ideas with a neutral audience
and get an honest response.
The response becomes a guide for them to better shape
their skills if they are looking to pursue that skill
professionally.
III. Social media increases impact and knowledge of world events
Social media can be a vehicle for doing good. Giving every
teen a chance of making an impact in the community is
very crucial.
It exposes them to essential issues not only in their
community but all over the world as well.
Negative Impacts of Social Media on Students and Adults
I. Poor Concentration
Today negative effects of social media on students can be
seen easily.
Different tasks, such as schoolwork, classwork, or
homework, require more concentration to deal with
something important, but now teenagers have a habit of
simultaneously using social media.
II. Decreased Activity
Teenagers who use social media heavily do not spend
enough time on activities that definitely increase mental
abilities, skills, and physical movement.
Those who exercise daily, their body releases endorphins
that signal our brain to stay positive and reduce depression.
III. Bad health
Young people spend a lot of time on social media. It can be
suspected that their eyes are getting pressured; also, many
students have gone through depression, anxiety etc. while
using social media
12. Conclusion
After completing this project, I learnt about the different types of
media and how the media works.
While writing about the positive and negative impacts of social
media I realized few mistakes which I have been doing in my
day-to-day life with regard to usage of social media.
13. Bibliography
I referred numerous websites and it’s pretty hard to list all of
them but the most referred websites were Wikipedia and Fedena.
