SAMPLE OF K-12 DAILY LESSONLOG USING 7E’s MODEL

School: Quezon National High School

Grade level: 8
Subject: Science
Topic: Forms of Energy and Energy Transformation
Duration: 8:00 am – 11:00 am
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates
understanding of the different forms
of energy and how they are
transformed.
B. Performance Standard The learner demonstrates how
energy can be converted from one
form to another.
C. Learning Competency a. Identify and describe the
different forms of energy
(kinetic, potential, thermal,
electrical, chemical, etc.)
b. Demonstrate examples of
energy transformations and
explain them.
II. CONTENT FORMS OF ENERGY AND ENERGY
TRANSFORMATION
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. Materials  PowerPoint slides
 Everyday objects for
demonstration (e.g.,
flashlight, battery, toy car)
 Videos showing energy
transformations
 Chart paper and markers for
group work
 Small-scale experiments for
hands-on activities
B. REFERENCES  DepEd Science Curriculum
Guide
( 2020)
 Videos and interactive
diagrams from online
resources
 Science for 21st century,
Grade 8
IV. PROCEDURE
A. ELICIT Activity:
SAMPLE OF K-12 DAILY LESSONLOG USING 7E’s MODEL

Ask students, “What do you already

know about forms of energy”.
Write their responses on the board
in a KWL (Know, Want to know,
Learned)
B. ENGAGE Activity
Begin with a short video or
demonstration showing a tor car
moving down a ramp. Ask the class,
“What makes the car move”.
Discuss briefly how energy is
involved in the movement, setting
up a question to explore: What
forms of energy exist and how can
they be transformed?
C. EXPLORE Activity:
Divide students into small groups.
Provide each group with an object
(e.g., flashlight, battery, toy car, or
fan). Ask them to identify the form
of energy present in each object
and to think about any energy
transformations that occur when
the object is used. Students record
their observations and report back
to the class.
D. EXPLAIN Activity:
Use a PowerPoint presentation to
explain the different forms of
energy:
 Kinetic Energy: Energy of
motion
 Potential Energy: Stored
energy
 Thermal Energy: Energy due
to the movement of particles
(heat energy)
 Chemical Energy: Energy
stored in the bonds of
molecules
 Mechanical Energy:

and position for each form of
energy, provide real-life

examples and explain how

energy can transform from
one form to another (e.g., a
battery transforms chemical
energy into electrical energy).
E. ELABORATE Activity:
Have each group demonstrate an
example of energy transformation
using the materials provided (e.g.,
using a battery to light a bulb,
turning on a fan, or running a toy
car on a ramp). Each group will
present their demonstration and
explain the energy transformation
involved (e.g., chemical to
electrical, mechanical to kinetic).
F. EVALUATE Activity:
Conduct an individual assessment
where students draw and label a
diagram of energy transformation.
Students should identify at least
two different energy
transformations that occur in
everyday life (e.g., energy
transformation in a car engine or a
microwave oven).
G. EXTEND Activity:
Ask students to consider how they
use energy in their daily lives. Have
them share an example of energy
transformation that happens at
home (e.g., using a microwave or
riding a bicycle) and explain the
types of energy involved.
V. REMARKS The class was engaged and
participated well in the group
activities. Some students needed
additional help in identifying energy
transformations, which was
addressed through examples and
additional explanation during the
“Explain” phase.
VI. REFLECTION The hands-on activities were
effective in helping students

understand the concepts of energy

and energy transformation. Future
lessons can include more interactive
experiments and simulations to
further illustrate these concepts.
