#14 Class II
Group 1
#14 MO Drawing outline
Dimensions
Gingival floor width = 1.5 mm
Gingival floor depth = 4.0 mm (must break gingival contact, 1 mm away from
gingiva)
Pulpal floor depth = 2.0 mm
Proximal walls at 90° to gingival floor
Steps
Apply matrix band (should extend 0.5 mm coronal to marginal ridge)
Insert wedge
Use a Garrison ring to hold matrix band in place
Burnish matrix band
Perform Etching and bonding
Apply desensitizing agent or glass ionomer
Apply composite in increments <2.5 mm
Finish and polish to smooth edges, remove and overhang, and replicate anatomy
Resistance
- Occlusally converging proximal walls
- Pulpal floor parallel to occlusal surface
- Rounded axiopulpal line angle
Restoration assessment
Sealed Margin
Proper interproximal contact and contour(floss test)
Proper occlusal contact with opposite tooth(stress points)
Presence of occlusal and gingival embrasures without overhangs
Presence of occlusal anatomy (central groove, cuspal inclines, marginal ridge and triangular
fossa)
Composite material must not extend beyond the cavo-surface margin
Smoothness of the restoration without catches
