LITERATURE SURVEY
Phase is circulated in sockets through switches and neutral and earth are
connected at every socket directly.
1. Have to install 5A or 15 A switch and sockets as per load requirements.
2. All connections should be tightly done and no loose wiring should be remain
as otherwise it leads to short circuit and shocks. So have to double check
should be done for checking tightness.
3. To make an extension cord, get an electrical wire with appropriate length.
The length of cord should be considered, based on the requirements. Try to
choose the minimum length as required. Because the length increases the
electrical resistance and thereby the copper loss. So, every extra length of cord
reasons for power loss in the conductor. The increase in length creates a
voltage drop. across the cord and decreases the amount of power that can
deliver by the cord. Thus, use a cord length that maintains the requirement and
also not in excess.
4. Connect each neutral and earth pole in the sockets, in parallel to the main
neutral and the earth. Distribute the phase line to the phase. poles of the sockets
via individual switches. Usually, all the socket will be similar to match the plug
of extension cord. Use socket types that suits the load's plug. Or use multiple
types of sockets.
5. The wires and the parts should satisfy the power requirements. Depending
the loads which may be used, choose a cord cable with proper wire gauge.
Extension cords should have a minimum of 16 AWG. And the rated load
power should be at the limit of amperes. the chord can drive. If available, it is
recommended to wire circuit with standard colour codes. Because it helps to
identify the lines during wiring and also if any chance of maintenance occurs.
Commonly phase, neutral and ground connections have red, black and green
respectively. The colour codes followed may vary with countries, in most
countries ground connection has green. But for phase and neutral different
colours are using.

improved processing power and multitasking capabilities. It is a versatile solution
for users seeking enhanced performance in various applications, such as data-
intensive tasks or advanced computational workloads. This abstract highlight the
Twin Socket's role in optimizing computing efficiency through dual
socket expansion.
Phase is circulated in sockets through switches and neutral and earth are
connected at every socket directly.

The Twin Socket Extension Board represents a cutting-edge advancement in the

realm of computer hardware, specifically tailored to amplify processing
capabilities. With the ever-increasing demand for enhanced computational power,
this extension board emerges as a strategic solution by facilitating the integration
of two processors within a single system. By doing so, it effectively transforms a
single-socket setup into a formidable dual-socket configuration.
This innovation is particularly significant in the context of high-performance
computing, where the need for parallel processing and heightened multitasking
capabilities is paramount. The Twin Socket Extension Board not only addresses
these demands but does so with a focus on cost-effectiveness, providing a viable
alternative to a complete system overhaul.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
The Twin Socket Extension Board addresses a critical issue in contemporary
computing systems: the demand for increased processing power outpacing the
capabilities of traditional single-socket setups. As applications become more
resource-intensive and complex, a bottleneck in computational performance
emerges. Existing systems, often limited to a single processor, struggle to meet
the requirements of tasks such as data-intensive computations, advanced
simulations, and real-time processing.

This disparity between computational demand and the capacity of single-socket

configurations creates a pressing problem for users seeking optimal performance
without the need for a complete hardware overhaul. The Twin Socket Extension
Board aims to bridge this gap by providing a solution that enables the integration
of dual processors within existing systems, offering a cost-effective approach to
enhance processing capabilities. This problem statement underscores the urgency
and relevance of addressing the growing need for improved computational power
in a manner that is both practical and economically viable.

METHOD(Experimental)
Extension board as the name implies it is used for extending the circuit means
providing the power supply at the desired place. Extension boards are part of
every house, every commercial establishment and even every industrial
establishment. Extension boards are readily available in the market and these
can be designed as per requirements.
Extension board consists of following: -
1. Switches
2. Sockets
3. Extension cord
4. Box on which switch sockets mounted
Steps to follow to make an extension board: -
Step 1: Materials

[Link]
2. Plug
3. Plug Socket
4. Extension Cord
5. Board with screws
Step 2: Plug
Now, we will connect the wires in plug.
For this read carefully the pin names on
the plug i.e. L, N, Earthing.
We will connect red wire at L, Black Wire
at N and Green wire at Earthing Point.

10 | P a g e
Step 3: Open
First of all, open the plug and take out three wires
from a thick chord.
Now, you will see three coloured wires and we
will do wiring on the basis of colour code decided
earlier.

Step 4: Wiring
Now wire the plug.
(i) L-Red Wire
(ii) N-Black Wire
(iii) Earthing- Green Wire

Step 5: Tighten
Now, tighten the bolts and complete it and cover
the plug.

11 | P a g e
Step 6: Plug Complete
Now, the plug is ready and now it’s time to wire the Board.
Step 7: The Board
Now, we will move on to wire the board. We will
connect through one switch and the plug socket.

Step 8: Open
Again Take out three coloured wires from the
other side of the chord and open the board to
wire it.

Step 9: Wiring-1
Connect a wire from switch to the L of the
plug socket.

Step 10: Wiring-2

Now, connect the Red wire to the other
connector of the switch

12 | P a g e
Step 11: Wiring-3
Connect the black wire at the N pin of the
plug Socket.

Step 12: Wiring-4

Now connect the green wire at the earthing
terminal of the Plug Socket. Now close the
Board and screw it up.

Step 13: Extension Ready

Now, your extension is ready to power your
home appliances.
