Storyline
Alex and his team launched the Game Trade Management System with great enthusiasm. The platform quickly
became a favorite among gamers for its ease of use and robust trading options. However, after four weeks, users
began requesting additional features to enhance their experience. They wanted improved security measures to
discourage frequent trade cancellations and fair penalties for misuse, as well as engaging incentives for daily platform
use. In response to this valuable feedback, the team decided to integrate new features addressing these needs.

Project Overview
Since the platform was launched, users have requested additional features to enhance their experience. These features
include:

Security & Fraud Prevention

 • Trade Cancellation & Penalty System: If a user cancels too many confirmed trades, they get a
temporary account restriction.

Gamification and User Engagement

 • Daily Login Rewards: Users receive small bonuses like extra trade listing slots or discounts on
premium features for daily logins.

Since these features are being added later, we will implement them using Agile and Extreme Programming (XP)
methodologies. This means our solution process will involve iterative development, continuous testing, pair
programming, and rapid feedback cycles to ensure a robust implementation of the new features.

Solutions for the New Features

1. Trade Cancellation Feature
 • Overview: This feature allows users to cancel an ongoing trade before it is completed. However, to
prevent misuse, a penalty system is introduced, which may include temporary trade bans, penalty fees,
etc.
 • Exploration: The team gathered detailed user feedback and explored various penalty models to
discourage abuse.
 • Planning: The feature was broken down into manageable tasks, with a sprint dedicated first to
implementing basic cancellation functionality, followed by planning for penalty system enhancements.
 • Iterations to Release: Development was executed in sprints using pair programming and Test-Driven
Development (TDD). An MVP was released after each iteration to gather rapid feedback and refine the
functionality accordingly.

2. Daily Login Rewards Feature

 Overview: This feature provides users with small incentives for logging in consistently. These rewards
can be used to unlock special trading perks, reduce penalties, and get discounts on certain transaction
fees.
 Exploration: Initial user research was conducted to determine the most valued rewards and how they
would impact user engagement.
 Planning: The reward system was segmented into core functionalities, such as reward allocation and
redemption, and planned across multiple sprints.
 Iterations to Release: Development followed an iterative approach using pair programming and TDD.
Early prototypes were released to a select user group for feedback, leading to continuous improvements
until the final release.

Conclusion
By adopting Agile and Extreme Programming methodologies, the team successfully integrated the new features into
the Game Trade Management System. The iterative approach—anchored in the XP phases of Exploration, Planning,
and Iterations to Release—ensured that the Trade Cancellation & Penalty System and Daily Login Rewards were
robustly implemented and continuously refined based on user feedback.

This proactive enhancement strategy has resulted in a more secure and engaging platform, ultimately increasing user
trust and satisfaction. The success of these enhancements underscores the importance of agile practices in responding
to evolving user needs and maintaining a competitive edge in the dynamic gaming market.
