EXAMINATION GUIDELINES FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE (083)

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. REFER AND PRACTICE PREVIOUS YEARS CBSE PAPERS, MARKING SCHEMES


AND SAMPLE PAPERS AVAILABLE ON CBSE WEBSITE.
2. ATTEMPT ALL THE QUESTIONS.
3. READ THE QUESTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING.
4. WRITE DOWN THE QUESTION AND PART NUMBERS VERY CLEARLY BEFORE
ATTEMPTING IT.
5. IF POSSIBLE, TRY TO ATTEMPT ALL THE PARTS OF THE QUESTIONS IN A
SEQUENCE.
6. IF YOU FIND AN ERROR OR AMBIGUITY IN THE QUESTION, THEN DO NOT LEAVE
THE QUESTION UNATTEMPTED. INSTEAD MENTION THE QUESTION NO. CLEARLY
AND WRITE THERE IS AN ERROR. ALSO TRY TO ATTEMPT THE QUESTION AFTER
CORRECTING THE ERROR ONCE YOU COMPLETE THE REST OF THE PAPER.
7. LEAVE PROPER SPACE BETWEEN TWO QUESTIONS.
8. IN CASE YOU WANT TO STRIKE SOME PART OF YOUR ANSWER, THEN IT IS
PREFERRED TO ATTEMPT IT ALL OVER AGAIN NEATLY.
9. REMEMBER THE SYNTAX DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SQL AND PYTHON.
10. WRITE INDENTED CODE IN PYTHON TO MARK THE BEGINNING AND END OF THE
BLOCK.
11. DO NOT CHANGE THE VARIABLES NAMES/ TABLE/COLUMN NAMES GIVEN IN
THE QUESTION.
12. USE CODES AND GIVE EXAMPLES AS FAR AS POSSIBLE TO EXPLAIN YOUR
ANSWER EFFECTIVELY.
13. GIVE REASONS OR JUSTIFICATION IN SUPPORT OF YOUR ANSWER.
14. DRAW DIAGRAMS WHEREEVER APPLICABLE.
15. DO NOT CHANGE THE LOCATIONS OF BLOCKS OR BUILDINGS IN NETWORKING
QUESTION.
16. REMEMBER THE LANGUAGE(PYTHON) IS CASE-SENSITIVE AND MYSQL IS NOT.

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS (SQL)

17. SQL CHARACTER AND DATE CONSTANTS MUST BE ENCLOSED IN QUOTES, FOR
EXAMPLE, ‘NOIDA’, ‘2022-06-13’.
18. IN QUERIES, SELECT & FROM ARE COMPULSORY PART OF THE SELECT
COMMAND. WHERE, GROUP BY, HAVING AND ORDER BY OPTIONAL PART.
19. JOIN CONDITION IS REQUIRED WHEN DATA IS REQUIRED FROM MORE THAN
ONE TABLE. WITHOUT JOIN CONDITION, CARTESIAN PRODUCT IS RETURNED.
20. YOU CANNOT SELECT REGULAR COLUMN WITH GROUP COLUMN INSTEAD
SELECT AGGRAGATE FUNCTIONS LIKE SUM(), AVERAGE(),COUNT(), MIN(), MAX()
ETC.
21. ALTER COMMAND IS USED TO CHANGE THE STRUCTURE OR DESCRIPTION OF
THE TABLE WHEREAS UPDATE IS USED TO CHANGE THE VALUES OF COLUMNS
IN THE RECORD.
22. QUERY ASKED CAN REQUIRE IN, NOT IN (FOR ANY EXACT MATCHING), BETWEEN,
NOT BETWEEN ( FOR RANGE CHECKING, OUTER RANGES INCLUSIVE) AND LIKE
WITH WILDCARD CHARACTER (%, _) MATCHING (FOR PARTIAL MATCHING,
NAMES STARTING WITH A)
23. USE LOGICAL OPERATORS (AND , OR) TO COMBINE TWO OR MORE CONDITIONS.
24. ORDER BY IS USED FOR SORTING THE RECORDS ON THE BASIS OF COLUMNS
VALUES AND GROUP BY IS USED TO SUMMARIZE THE DATA ON THE BASIS OF
GROUP COLUMNS.
