Consumer Preferences on the Selection of Minibus Rental Services (Bramantyo, G. A.,

2022)

The study of Bramantyo, G. A. (2022), on consumer preferences in selecting

minibus rental services analyzed factors influencing customer decisions, using conjoint
analysis to measure the importance of various service attributes. The research found that
customers prioritize specific vehicle models, service flexibility (such as driverless
options), and rental contract terms when choosing a transport provider. Additionally,
market penetration and brand awareness play a crucial role in a rental company's ability
to attract and retain clients. Understanding customer behavior and preferences allows
transport businesses to refine their services, improve customer satisfaction, and maintain
long-term business sustainability.

This study is relevant to the Online Vehicle Rental System as both focus on
managing rental services and enhancing customer experience. Just as the study
emphasized the importance of customer preferences in rental decisions, the Online
Vehicle Rental System allows users to select vehicles based on availability and personal
preference. Additionally, the system manages vehicle information, rental fees, and
reservation payments, helping to streamline operations and improve efficiency. By
automating rental management and providing clear vehicle options, the system enhances
customer convenience, similar to Bramantyo, G. A. (2022), studies about how JN
Transport optimized its service offerings to meet consumer demand.

Towards blockchain-IoT based shared mobility: Car-sharing and leasing as a case

study (Auer, S., 2022)

According to the case study of Auer, S. (2022), the shared mobility concept has
transformed the automotive industry by shifting the focus from car ownership to car-
sharing and leasing solutions. Car manufacturers and mobility service providers are
increasingly exploring shared mobility as a business strategy. At the same time,
blockchain and IoT technologies are emerging as key enablers for secure, transparent,
and efficient car-sharing platforms. Blockchain’s immutability and transparency ensure
that all transactions related to vehicle leasing, usage, and ownership are trustworthy and
tamper-proof. When combined with IoT, these technologies allow real-time tracking of
vehicles, secure authentication, and better coordination among stakeholders such as
OEMs, leasing companies, insurance providers, and public authorities.

This study is relevant to the Online Vehicle Rental System, as both focus on
enhancing the efficiency and security of vehicle rentals. While the study explores
blockchain-IoT integration for shared mobility, the Online Vehicle Rental System
improves vehicle management, rental transactions, and customer reservations. Similar to
the blockchain-based approach ensuring authenticity, traceability, and reliability, the
system maintains accurate rental records, manages vehicle availability, and provides
structured payment handling. Although the current system does not integrate blockchain,
future enhancements could explore secure digital contracts and IoT-based vehicle
tracking to further streamline operations.

Designing a GDPR compliant blockchain-based IoV distributed information

tracking system (Reyna, A., 2021)

Based on the article of Reyna, A. (2021), the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) introduces
innovative ways to track and manage vehicle data, enhancing safety, accountability, and
operational efficiency. Blockchain, as a distributed ledger technology, provides tamper-
proof and non-repudiable data logging, making it ideal for tracking responsibilities in
cases of accidents or maintenance issues. However, privacy concerns arise, as vehicle
data often includes personal information, business-sensitive details, and government-
related intelligence, all of which fall under the General Data Protection Regulation
(GDPR) in the European Union.

This literature aligns with the Online Vehicle Rental System, as both involve
secure vehicle data management and tracking. While the proposed blockchain-based IoV
system ensures GDPR compliance in tracking vehicle history and responsibilities, the
Online Vehicle Rental System focuses on efficient vehicle rentals, reservations, and
customer preferences. Privacy concerns are also relevant in the rental system, as it
involves client registrations, rental transactions, and vehicle usage history. Future
enhancements could explore blockchain-based solutions to improve data security,
auditability, and compliance with privacy regulations. Integrating GDPR principles into
the system would ensure that user data remains secure while maintaining operational
transparency.

Adopting digital reservation systems to enable circular economy in

entrepreneurship (Saura, J. R.,2022)

The adoption of digital reservation systems has shown a positive impact on

circular entrepreneurship businesses, particularly in the hospitality sector. According to
recent studies of Saura, J. R. (2022), the usability and perceived ease of use of digital
reservation systems directly influence user satisfaction and trust. These systems improve
resource efficiency, enable sustainable knowledge creation, and enhance the prediction of
services and demand. Additionally, digital reservation systems facilitate communication
between businesses and customers, leading to better management of knowledge and
decision-making processes.

The findings from digital reservation systems in the hospitality industry can be
applied to the development of an Online Vehicle Rental System. The relationship between
usability, user satisfaction, and trust aligns with the objective of creating a system that
effectively manages vehicle rentals and reservations. Key insights from the literature
support the need for efficient resource utilization, improved user experience, enhanced
decision-making, and sustainability in business operations. By integrating these
principles, the Online Vehicle Rental System can ensure a seamless experience for both
clients and service providers while enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability.

Enhancement of Mobile-Based Application for Vehicle Rental (Hazlan, E. B., 2021)

The study of Hazlan, E. B. (2021), on the enhancement of the mobile-based

application for vehicle rental, specifically the EZGO system, relates to the proposed
Online Vehicle Rental System as it shares the goal of improving the efficiency of vehicle
rental processes through digital solutions. The statement, "EZGO is a website that allows
consumers to look for vehicles such as cars, bikes, and rental vans that can have the most
satisfactory outcome and avoid the rejection of unavailable car rental by providing
substitute vehicles that are close to the needs of the customer," aligns with our system's
objective of managing vehicle rentals and assigning vehicles based on availability and
customer preferences. Both systems aim to streamline rental services, enhance user
experience, and ensure better resource allocation.

Additionally, the EZGO study’s implementation of an agile approach, UML

diagram development, and customer surveys provide a foundation for our system's
development methodology. Our Online Vehicle Rental System will also focus on
automating rental management, handling client registrations, tracking vehicle information,
and managing rental transactions efficiently. While EZGO is a web-based system, our
project extends its concept by offering features such as total sales reporting and rental
cancellation management. However, limitations such as the lack of online payment and
real-time vehicle tracking highlight areas for potential future enhancements.

Discussion of Overall Review

The related studies provide valuable insights into improving the Online Vehicle
Rental System by emphasizing customer preferences, security, and efficient management.
Bramantyo (2022) highlighted that customers prioritize vehicle selection, service
flexibility, and rental terms, which aligns with the system’s goal of offering users
convenient booking options. Auer (2022) explored how blockchain and IoT enhance car-
sharing security and transparency, suggesting future improvements for secure transactions
and vehicle tracking. Similarly, Reyna (2021) focused on IoV-based tracking systems,
highlighting the need for data privacy and security, which can be addressed by integrating
GDPR-compliant features to protect customer information.

Additionally, Saura (2022) emphasized that digital reservation systems enhance

business operations by increasing user trust and improving service efficiency, reinforcing
the importance of a smooth rental booking experience. Hazlan (2021) studied the EZGO
system, which ensures vehicle availability and prevents booking rejections—features that
are also essential in an effective vehicle rental system. Expanding on this, the Online
Vehicle Rental System includes sales reporting and rental cancellation management for
better resource allocation. Overall, these studies support the development of a secure,
user-friendly, and automated rental system, with future enhancements potentially
integrating blockchain for secure transactions and IoT for real-time tracking to improve
service quality.
