Reflective Paper:

This reflective paper is the outcome of a team project exploring the global topic of sports
and recreation and the key issue of corruption in sporting bodies. Originally, our group
constituted of 5 members who were selected arbitrarily but the number soon proliferated
to 7 members. Not only did this make it difficult to commune with one another but it also
made it troublesome to keep track of one another’s submissions and contrive new ideas for
our group project. Fortunately, we were able to successfully resolve the aforementioned
issues through our frequent brainstorming sessions, and during these sessions, I strongly
believe that majority of our group was able to establish positive relations and work together
effectively with one another.
However, there were a few members who contributed little to nothing during the
brainstorming sessions and frequently missed submissions for their research. Muhammad
Azan was one of these members. Not only did he not submit any research, but he did not
attend any group meetings. Furthermore, he was habitual of disrupting our group meetings
rather than contributing to them which further provides evidence of his non-serious
behaviour. Another member who contributed nothing to the group was Musa Ranjha, who
took frequent and long periods of leaves which stifled his ability to submit his research on
time.
On the other hand, our group leader, Mureed Husnain, worked tirelessly in order to ensure
that our group would be able to submit our project on time. He was originally entrusted
with researching the global perspective of our key issue, but he also took up the
responsibility of researching the causes of our key issue. Additionally, he also took up the
responsibility of collecting photographs and graphs for the project outcome which further
shows his willingness to perform as a team player. Saleh Ahmed and Muhammad Imran
were two group members who originally did not contribute much but in the later stages of
researching on our key issue, they were able to submit their work on time which proved to
be invaluable for our poster.
As an individual, I believe that I was a valuable asset to our group. From the start till the end
of our research period, not only did I submit my part of the research on time, but I also took
up the responsibility of submitting the causes for our key issue. Moreover, I also compiled
and summarised the research which was to be put on the poster, and I also provided
materials for the project outcome such as chart papers and coloured papers. I also printed
out the resources which were to be put onto the project outcome as I was the only group
member who had the facility of a printer.
However, I also believe that I could have been more beneficial to our group if I had tried to
commune more with the other group members and if I had shared more of my ideas which
could have led to a better project outcome. I also did not join many of the group meetings at
the start of the researching period which hindered my ability to develop close relations with
other group members and prevented me from gaining a deeper understanding of my group
members’ thinking and working process. This project was a great opportunity for me to
strengthen my teamwork and communication skills while also giving me the opportunity to
understand my shortcomings as a group member.
Our project outcome exhibits several strengths. It was ahead of time which gave our group
the opportunity to reflect on the weaknesses of our poster and improve it further. We took
great care to ensure that it would appear as eye-catching as possible so that it would be
able to attract a greater audience. To do this, we used a great number of colours in our
project outcome while also adding lots of photos and graphs which made it easier to explain
and raise awareness on our key issue. Additionally, we also made our texts as concise and
clear as possible which further attracted a greater audience.
I think we could have improved our poster’s research by referring to other sources rather
than solely relying on the internet such as books and case studies. I think we should have
also used more relevant and recent graphs and research in our research while also quoting
notable historical events in our key issue in order to make conveying awareness on our key
issue easier.
