EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS ON SELF-HEALING CONCRETE
USING CALCIUM SULFO ALUMINATE
ABSTRACT
The emergence of cracks in cementitious composites and concrete,
stemming from both autogenous processes and external stressors, poses a
significant challenge to the long-term durability and safety of structures. In
response to this challenge, researchers have developed an innovative method
featuring inherent capabilities for autonomous crack repair, known as self-
healing concrete, which offers promising benefits for enhancing structural
longevity and reducing environmental impact. This method offers not only an
autogenous healing mechanism but also the potential for autonomous repair,
significantly reducing the need for maintenance while concurrently extending
the lifespan of concrete structures. This paper comprehensively reviews the
working principles, fabrication techniques, and self-healing capabilities,
specifically in relation to crack recovery and mechanical performance, of
concrete incorporated with chemical-based self-healing agents like calcium
sulfoaluminate (CSA), In this review, both autogenous and autonomous self-
healing were considered, and literature studies suggested cracks can effectively
heal, and mechanical performances can be significantly restored. Healing
performance and mechanical performance restoration can vary significantly
with the type of healing agents and their concentrations. Many researchers have
achieved more than 100% restoration of mechanical performance and fully
healed crack depths. Chemical-based self-healing agents can be an efficient way
to enhance the durability of concrete, ensuring safety and promoting their
practical application.

AIM:
To determine the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beam using
bacterial and calcium sulfo aluminate.
To determine optimum mix ratio of bacterial concrete by adding it with
suitable concrete ingredients.
OBJECTIVE:
The primary objective of this project is to Increase the Characteristic
Compression Strength in concrete and to self-repair the cracks with the
help of microorganism.
To check Flexural Strength of the concrete as per IS:516-1959 (Methods
of tests for strength of concrete)
To determine the mechanical properties of the concrete. such as
compressive strength, flexural strength
To determine the optimum percentage of addition of Calcium sulfo
aluminate based on compressive strength
To determine the flexural behavior of RC column experimentally
SCOPE OF WORK
Check the capacity to heal and lowers the requirement to locate and
repair cracks without the need for external intervention.
Limits reinforcement corrosion and concrete deterioration, as well as
lowering costs and increasing durability.
Check the feasibility of simultaneous use of coarse and fine aggregate
in manufacturing of concrete.
