Control System Analysis and Stability Tasks

The document contains four assignments related to control systems. It includes tasks such as finding closed-loop transfer functions, determining values for system stability, plotting motion in MATLAB based on initial conditions, and drawing root locus diagrams to analyze system behavior. Each question requires application of control theory concepts and mathematical analysis.

Assignment-1

Q1. Find the closed-loop transfer function for the system shown below using Block diagram reduction
method?

Q 2. Considering the diagram shown below, the system is marginally stable and needs to be brought to
stability. If K/J=4 , what value of Kh will produce damping of 0.8?

Q 3. For the figure shown below, where m=1kg , b=3N-sec/m and k=2 N/m. Assume that at t=0, the
mass m is pulled downward such that x(0)=0.1m and dx(0)/dt=0.05m/sec. The displacement x(t) is
measured from equilibrium position. Plot the motion of mass subjected to initial condition. (Use
MATLAB).

Q4 Draw the root locus for the system shown in figure below and hence prove that the root locus crosses
real axis at breakaway point at an angle of ±60º.
