*Chapter 3: Methodology*
*Introduction*
This chapter outlines the research design, participants, data collection methods,
and data analysis procedures used in this study. The aim is to provide a clear and

between parental involvement and Grade 10 students' academic motivation.

*Research Design*
This study employed a quantitative research design, specifically a correlational
study. The study aimed to explore the relationship between parental involvement and
academic motivation among Grade 10 students.

*Participants*
The study participants consisted of 200 Grade 10 students (100 males, 100 females)
from a public high school in [City/Region]. The students were selected through a
random sampling method. Parental consent forms were obtained from all participants
before data collection.

Two data collection methods were used:

1. *Student Survey*: A standardized survey questionnaire was administered to the


students to collect data on their academic motivation and parental involvement. The

Parental Involvement Scale (PIS).
2. *Parent Survey*: A separate survey questionnaire was administered to the
parents/guardians of the participating students to collect data on their
involvement in their children's education. The survey consisted of 20 items,
including the Parental Involvement Scale (PIS).

*Data Analysis Procedures*


Descriptive statistics (means, standard deviations) and inferential statistics
(correlation analysis, regression analysis) were used to analyze the data. The data

*Reliability and Validity*


The reliability and validity of the survey instruments were established through
pilot testing and Cronbach's alpha analysis. The Cronbach's alpha coefficients for
the AMS and PIS were 0.85 and 0.80, respectively.
