Receptive Identification Of Letter

Objective: When several letters are presented to student, student will choose the letter named by the
teacher.

Reinforcers:

Baseline: Present letter cards in front of student and say, “Give me ____ (name letter).”
Wait 5 seconds for a response. A correct response is scored (+) if student
selects the named letter - do not reinforce. Move to next trial. An incorrect
response is scored (-) if student does not select the named letter- do not
prompt. Move to next trial.
Teaching Procedures: Present letter cards in front of student and say, “Give me ____ (name letter).”
Wait 5 seconds for a response. If student selects named letter, praise and
provide reinforcer. If student does not select the named letter, say, “Give me
____ (name letter)” as you point to the correct letter. Wait 5 seconds for a
response. If student selects named letter, praise and provide reinforcer. If
student does not select the named letter, physically guide student to select the
named letter. Score V if correct response followed verbal prompt. Score M if
correct response followed model prompt. Score P if physical guidance was
used.
