1. In your own words, what is teaching? Based on your definition, what is the
essence of teaching?

- For me, teaching is the process of helping others learn and grow. It is
not just about giving information but also about guiding students to
understand and apply what they learn. A teacher encourages curiosity,
critical thinking, and problem-solving, making learning meaningful and
relevant.

The essence of teaching is the ability to inspire and shape students

beyond the classroom. It is about making a difference in their lives by
helping them develop confidence, skills, and a lifelong love for
learning. A great teacher does not just teach subjects but also nurtures
character, values, and the ability to think independently. Did you made

2. In light of the different dimensions of teaching, interpret the following

statements:

a. “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops”. – Henry
Adams
- For me, teaching is not just about passing on knowledge but about shaping
students in ways that can impact their future and the people around them. A
teacher’s influence does not end when the lesson is over because students
carry what they learn, both academically and in terms of values, throughout
their lives. Even small moments like words of encouragement or a teacher’s
belief in a student’s potential can have lasting effects. A teacher might never
see how far their impact reaches, but it continues through the lives their
students shape in return.
 b. “Of all the hard jobs around, one of the hardest is being a good teacher”. –

- Teaching is not just about explaining concepts. It is about making sure
students truly understand and apply what they learn. A good teacher must
find ways to keep students engaged, encourage critical thinking, and help
them overcome challenges. This job requires patience, adaptability, and
dedication because every student is different. It is not easy to guide students
academically while also helping them grow in confidence and character. The
effort that goes into making learning meaningful is what makes teaching one
of the most challenging yet fulfilling jobs.

- For me, teaching is not just about delivering information but about making
students think for themselves. A teacher who simply tells students what to
do does not truly help them learn because learning is not about memorizing
facts. A good teacher takes the time to explain ideas in a way that makes
sense to students, while a superior teacher goes further by demonstrating
concepts to make learning more engaging and practical. However, the best
teachers do more than just teach. They inspire students to explore, ask
questions, and develop a genuine love for learning. A great teacher does
not just focus on the subject but also nurtures students' curiosity,
confidence, and ability to think independently.

3. Analysis: Let’s Ponder on These

a. What is meant by Vision? Mission?

- For me, vision is about looking ahead to what I want to achieve in the future. It gives
direction and serves as a guide for my goals. Mission, on the other hand, is about what
I need to do in the present to make that vision a reality. In teaching, vision is the dream
of shaping students into capable and responsible individuals, while mission is the daily
effort of guiding, teaching, and inspiring them to reach their full potential.

b. Are these two (Vocation and Mission) related? Why?

- Yes, they are both connected because connected because both involve passion
and purpose. Vocation is something a person feels called to do, while mission is
how they fulfill that calling. If teaching is a vocation, then the mission is to
educate, inspire, and help students grow. A teacher who sees teaching as a
calling does not just focus on lessons but also on making a real impact on
students' lives.

c. Teaching as a job or mission. What’s the difference?

 - For me, teaching as a job means doing the required tasks, following schedules,
and focusing on salary or career growth. Teaching as a mission goes beyond
that because it is about making a difference in students' lives. A teacher who
sees teaching as a mission is not just concerned with finishing lessons but also
with inspiring students, helping them overcome challenges, and shaping their
character. The difference is in the mindset and dedication to truly making an
impact.

4. Metaphors of teacher. Analyze and complete the prompt statements

below:
a. Teacher as a gardener because they cultivate and nurture the growth of students.
Just as a gardener plants seeds, waters them, and provides the right
environment, a teacher helps students develop knowledge, skills, and character,
ensuring they grow into well-rounded individuals.

b. Teacher as a potter because they shape and mold students' potential. Just as a
potter carefully forms clay, a teacher guides students through challenges, helping

and challenges. Just as an alarm clock signals the start of a new day, a teacher
helps students start each day with purpose, motivating them to engage in learning

- In my opinion, traditional teaching methods often focus on a
teacher-centered approach where the teacher is the primary source
of knowledge, and students are passive recipients. The lessons tend
 to be lecture-based, with limited interaction or student involvement.
Technology is often not integrated, and the focus is more on
memorization and exams for assessment. While this method can
provide structure and foundation, it may limit student engagement
and critical thinking. In contrast, modern, student-centered
approaches emphasize active learning, where students participate
in discussions, problem-solving, and hands-on activities. Technology
plays a key role here, offering tools like online resources,
simulations, and collaborative platforms that engage students in
personalized and interactive learning. This approach fosters deeper
understanding, critical thinking, and skills like collaboration and
creativity. It also allows for more diverse assessments, like projects
and presentations, which can be more engaging than traditional
tests. Ultimately, while traditional methods offer structure, modern
approaches with technology better prepare students for real-world
challenges by making learning more engaging and relevant.

6. Discuss the role of technology in modern education. What are

the benefits and potential drawbacks of integrating technology
into the classroom?
- In my opinion, technology has transformed modern education
by making learning more flexible and engaging. It allows
students to access vast amounts of information instantly, use
interactive tools like simulations and educational apps, and
participate in virtual classrooms or online discussions.
Technology also supports personalized learning, helping
students progress at their own pace and catering to different
learning styles. However, it can also lead to over-dependence
on digital devices, causing distractions and reducing critical
thinking. There's also the issue of a digital divide, where
students with limited access to technology may be left
behind. Despite these challenges, when integrated
thoughtfully, technology can greatly enhance educational
experiences, preparing students for the digital world.

7. How can teachers foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment?

- In my opinion, teachers can foster a positive and inclusive classroom
environment by making sure every student feels respected and valued.
This can be done by encouraging open communication, listening to
what students have to say, and embracing diversity. I believe setting
clear expectations for behavior and promoting kindness and empathy
is essential. Teachers should also use materials that reflect different
cultures and experiences, so all students can relate. Creating
opportunities for everyone to participate, whether through group
activities or discussions, ensures that all voices are heard and
included. By modeling inclusivity and fairness, teachers can set the
 tone for a supportive environment where all students feel welcome.

8. What role does classroom management play in the effectiveness of

teaching?
- classroom management plays an important role in the effectiveness of
teaching because it creates a foundation for a productive and
respectful learning environment. When a teacher has strong classroom
management skills, it helps prevent disruptions and ensures that
students can focus on learning. It allows the teacher to maintain
control over the class while giving students the space to engage with
the material and participate actively. Effective classroom management
also promotes a sense of safety and respect, making students feel
comfortable to express themselves and ask questions. Without it,
lessons can easily become chaotic, and learning opportunities may be
lost.

9. How can teachers prepare students for the challenges of the future
workforce?
- In my opinion, teachers can prepare students for the challenges of the
future workforce by focusing on developing essential skills like critical
thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability. Teachers should
encourage collaboration, communication, and creativity, as these are
key skills needed in almost every profession. Integrating real-world
scenarios and technology into lessons helps students understand how
what they learn applies outside the classroom. Additionally, teachers
can help students build a growth mindset, teaching them to embrace
challenges, learn from mistakes, and continuously improve. By
fostering these skills, teachers equip students with the tools they need
to thrive in an ever-changing job market.

- For me, the teacher-student relationship has a significant influence on

taking risks. A strong relationship can also motivate students, as they
are more likely to engage in learning when they feel supported and
valued. Teachers who show genuine interest in their students' success
help build their confidence and self-esteem, leading to better academic
