4. Discussion

Class, our topic for today is all about Adding

and Subtracting Dissimilar Fractions.

Do you have any idea what is Disimilar

Fraction?

Okay it's alright.

What is Dissimilar Fraction?

Dissimilar fractions, also known as unlike

fractions, are fractions that have different
denominators. The denominators (the bottom
numbers of the fractions) are not the same,
making the fractions dissimilar.
No,miss.

Can we add or subract dissimilar fractions?

Yes [Link] are not able to add or subtract

dissimilar fractions directly.

So,how can we able to do that?

To add or subtract dissimilar fractions, you need

to follow these general steps:

Adding Dissimilar Fractions:

[Link] a Common Denominator (CD):

-Identify the least common denominator (LCD)

for the fractions. The LCD is the smallest
multiple that both denominators divide into

evenly.

[Link] Fractions:

-Rewrite each fraction with the common

denominator.

[Link] Addition:

-Add the numerators together while keeping

the common denominator unchanged.

[Link] (if needed)

Okay now,Let me give you an example.

Subtracting Dissimilar Fractions:

Follow similar steps as addition, but subtract

the numerators instead of adding.
