MOUNTING
> Wheel must easily fit on the spindle. MUST NOT BE LOOSE
> It bore is tight keep the wheel aside. DO NOT TRY TO
INCREASE BORE SIZE
Precautions Before & During Usage
Check the below mention things:
• Flanges
• Mounting
• Machine
• Visual Inspection
• Labels
• Safety Devices
7
MACHINE Precautions
Machine should be well
maintained. There should be
no vibration
Bearing should be in good
condition
Always use correct key to
open adaptor nut
8
VISUAL INSPECTION
Visually inspect wheel for cracks
Check for damage during storage / transit /
handling
Do not use such wheel
Guard – must cover 50% of grinding wheel.
Keep guard between your face and wheel.
Installation of New Wheel
Know the rated RPM of grinder and wheel
Perform “Ring Test” – Gently tap new wheel with
non-metal object and listen for ring if you hear a
dead sound or thump – Do not use and discard
the wheel.
Do not over-tighten adaptor nut
Unplug before changing wheel.
9
Storage and Expiry
Grinding wheels are subject to deterioration if
stored in damp or humid conditions. The effects
are a reduction in bond strength caused by the
ingress of moisture; this affects the balance and
causes surface growth, which reduces the
bursting speed.
Always noticed that there shall an expiry date
stamped into the steel lip of every grinding/cutting
disc.
On reaching their limits, all grinding wheels
are to be removed from service and destroyed.
Where, however, sufficiently large quantities of
unused wheels are in store, they may be returned
to the manufacturer for inspection and life
extension. Workshops holding or using grinding
wheels are to maintain a register specifying the
life limit date and location of each wheel.

Grinder Machine Safety
The fact that a grinder is portable increases the hazard. Protect the grinder from:
Being Dropped
Sharp Blows – Shocks
High Impact
Know the revolution per minutes (RPM’s) of the grinder wheel of the grinding
wheel to avoid explosion.
Avoid Over Speed
Where the grinder RPM’s exceeds the rated RPM’s of the grinding wheel to avoid
explosion.
Personal Protective Equipment required
Eye Goggles
Face Shield
Hearing protection
Steel Toe Work Boots
Leather Gloves
INSPECT ELECTRICAL CORD, GRINDER
BODY AND WHEEL FOR DEFECTS
