A Road Accident I Witnessed Involving My Friend

Last year, on the 15th October 2024 was a very sad

day as I witnessed a severe accident that involved a best
friend of mine.
On my way to school that morning, I was walking
down the street when I suddenly saw a friend of mine
called Sam on a bicycle trying to cross the road heading to
our school. I turned around and saw a car speeding down
the same direction. It hit my friend, Sam, who was already
at the middle of the street trying to cross. I felt my heart
drop as I rushed to the scene. Sam was lying on the
ground, seriously injured.

Moreover, people quickly gathered around, some

calling for help while others tried to comfort Sam. I could
see that he was in pain, but he was conscious and trying to
speak. I felt scared and helpless, wishing I could do
something to make it better. The driver of the car got out,
looking shocked and worried.

Soon, an ambulance arrived with flashing lights and

sirens. They rushed over with a stretcher and carefully
lifted Sam onto it. They checked his injuries and reassured
him that he would be okay. I watched as they loaded him
into the ambulance, and I felt a mix of fear and hope.
I wanted to go with him, but they said it was best
for me to stay back. As the ambulance drove away, I
prayed for my friend’s recovery and hoped to see him back
at school soon.
 THE GAME I LIKE BEST
Football, also known as soccer in some parts of the world, is an
exciting sport that attracts millions of people and that is why it is the
game I like best. It is played on a rectangular field with two goalposts at
each end.

Moreover, a standard football match is played between two

teams, each consisting of eleven players. The aim of the game is to
score more goals than the opposing team. The game begins with a
kickoff at the center of the field, and players move the ball mainly by
kicking it. Football matches are typically played in two halves of 45
minutes each, with a 15-minute halftime break.

Again, players can use any part of their body except their arms
and hands to control the ball. The only player allowed to handle the ball
within their selected area is the goalkeeper. Each team aims to advance
the ball toward their opponent's goal while defending their own. Scoring
occurs when the entire ball crosses the goal line between the goalposts,
leading to joy from players and fans alike.
Furthermore, below are two main rules of football:
First is the Foul. Fouls occur when a player commits an infringement,
such as falling, pushing, or holding an opponent, often resulting in a
free kick awarded to the opposing team. If the foul occurs within the
penalty area, it is considered a penalty kick, allowing the fouled team an
opportunity to score from a selected spot twelve yards from the goal,
facing only the goalkeeper.
Second is the throw-in rule. If the ball goes out of play past the
touchlines, it results in a throw in. A throw-in is awarded to the
opponents of the player who last touched the ball. A throw-in is taken
by hand.
Football brings people together and provides lots of opportunities
for players and other officials. It is my favorites of all the games in the
world.
 My Last Inter-House Athletic Sport Meet

The inter-house athletic sports meet is an event, held annually at our school
and last year’s event was very exciting. Competitors from all four houses: Red,
Blue, Green, and yellow—were eager to showcase their talents and spirit, in
order to win the trophy.

In the morning of the sports meet, the school compound was transformed
into a lively field decorated with flags and banners representing each house. The
pupils, teachers, and parents gathered to grace the occasion. The atmosphere was
filled with hope, laughter, and a spirit of friendly competition.

Moreover, as a member of the Green House, I was filled with pride as we

gathered for the opening ceremony. Our House Masters gave a motivating
speech, encouraging everyone to give their best. We all clapped, shouting our
house motto and colour in joy.

Furthermore, the events began with the track events. I had trained hard for
the 100-meters dash, and as I stood at the starting line ready to do my best. With
the sound of the whistle, I took off, focusing on my breathing and pace. I could
hear my friends from the Green House shouting for me to run harder. As I
crossed the finish line, I was surprised to discover that I had finished in second
place.

Apart from track events, our sports meet included various field activities
such as long jump, high jump, music and chair etc. I was particularly impressed
by my friend Kumba, who was a talented long jumper. Our performance earned
us several certificates.

Also, as the sun began to set, showing the end of the sport meet, we
gathered for the award or trophy distribution ceremony. The house points were
checked, and we eagerly awaited the announcement. The tension was high as the
principal stood before us, reflecting on the day’s events and the efforts of all the
participants. When Green House was announced as the overall winner, there was
joy and jubilation all over the field. We jumped up and down, hugging each
other, as we move to the town to celebrate our success.

As I walked off the field that day, I felt a deep sense of belonging and pride
as being part of the Green House. I can’t wait for next year’s sports meet, where I
know we will try to gain another title and create even more remarkable moments.
 The Day the President Visited Our School
The day the president visited our school was very exciting. We
were all eager to see him. The school was well decorated and we were
neatly dressed to welcome him.
In the morning October 6th 2023, we gathered in the playground.
Our principal gave a speech. He welcomed everyone and told us how
important this day was. We shouted and clapped.

After some time, the president arrived. He stepped out of his car
and waved at us. We shouted and clapped even louder. He smiled and
greeted the teachers and students.

The president walked to the stage and spoke to us. He talked about
the importance of education. He encouraged us to study hard and dream
big. We listened carefully. It was inspiring to hear him speak.

Then, he told us to ask questions. Many raised their hands. I was

nervous, but my friends asked great questions that made the teachers
proud. The president answered with a big smile. We learned a lot from
him.

After the speech, we had a small performance. Some students sang

songs, while others danced and acted drama. The president enjoyed the
show and even clapped along. He made promises that the best
performing pupils that will take the first and second positions will be
given scholarship and other prizes. It made us happy. I will work hard to
be among those that will grab that opportunity.

Finally, he took pictures with us. I felt proud to be in the photos.

The day ended with everyone feeling joyful. We waved goodbye as he
left.

This was a memorable day for our school. I will always remember
the day the president visited us. It inspired me to work hard in my
studies.
 THE PERSON I ADMIRE MOST
The person I admire most is my mother. Her name is Salamatu
Lansana. She is fifty- eight years old, fat and dark in complexion.
She is kind, strong, and hardworking.

My mom is a Kono by tribe; born in Jaiama Sewafe- Kono

District. She takes care of our family and always puts us first. Even
when she is tired, she smiles and helps us with everything.

My mom is a petty-trader. She wakes up early every day.

Sometimes, she works long hours. But she never complains. She
teaches me the value of hard work. I see her dedication, and it
inspires me to do my best in school.

My mom loves to cook. She makes delicious meals for us.

Whether it is breakfast, lunch, or dinner, she always makes it
special. I enjoy helping her in the kitchen. It’s a great way for us to
spend time together.

She also encourages me in my studies. When I have homework

or need help, she is always there. She tells me to believe in myself.
Her support helps me feel confident. I always try to make her proud.

Besides being a great mom, she is also a good friend. She

listens to my problems and gives me advice. I can talk to her about
anything.

My mom cares for others, too. She helps other people and
teaches me the importance of kindness. She shows me that helping
others is important.

Overall, my mother is a wonderful person. I admire her for her

strength, love, and generosity. She is my heroine, and I am very
lucky to have her in my life. May God guide and protect her for me;
Amen.
 The Incident That Changed My Life
One day, I was walking home from school. I took a shortcut
through the swamp. As I walked, I saw something shiny in the grass.
I bent down to look. It was a big bag. I opened it and found a huge
amount of money inside and some shiny stones which were
diamonds. I was shocked! Within thirty seconds, I started sweating
and was afraid because I have seen such amount of money in my
life.

At first, I said to myself about keeping the bag. I could buy new
clothes, a car, buy houses or even travel abroad with the rest of the
money and diamonds. But then I remembered my parents’ words
about honesty. They always said it is important to do the right thing.
So, I decided to find the owner.

I took the bag to the police station. The officer was surprised
when I showed him the bag. He thanked me for being honest. He
said they would help find the owner. A few days later, the owner
came to the station. He was very grateful. He gave me a reward for
returning the bag.

This incident changed my life. I felt proud of myself for doing

the right thing. The owner became my friend. He invited me to his
house for dinner. We had a great time together. The next day, he
invited me and my parent to one of his houses in the city and then
handed over a document and a key of that particular house saying it
belongs to me. A brand new car was added and promised to sponsor
my education until I finish my university. We were very grateful for
the gift and thanked him very much.

I learned that honesty is important. It can lead to new

friendships and good things in life. Now, I always try to help others
and be honest. This experience taught me a valuable lesson that I
will never forget. It changed my life for good as my parent and all
my friends became proud for having me around.
